My Valkyrie had a Mustang two up seat with driver and passenger backrest when I bought it. I was pondering the idea of possibly changing. I like the idea of the Ultimate seats as well as the Corbins, and I really haven't heard much bad about the stock seats. What do you fine ladies and gentlemen think is the best seat for the Valkyrie?

I am 6'1, 210 lbs, and the Ultimate seat, with the back rest, is the most comfortable seat I have been on, especially on long trips.

I have the Ultimate seat as well with a backrest, however, I'm a bit heavier, ok 70 lbs heavier 32" inseam - It is more comfortable than the stock, still after a long day in the saddle I still feel little discomfort, so I'm going to give the Russel Day Long custom seat a try - no comparison yet - pending

The most comfortable seat that I've ever sat on that is on my I/S and it is a modified I/S seat.
Everybody is different (inseam, weight, height, butt width, etc), so a seat that is custom fitted to you would probably be your best bet.
I talked to a technician at "Sargent Cycle" two years ago about my seat needs and complaints. He told me to have some pictures of me sitting on my bike. He wanted to know my weight, inseam, and if I felt it needed to be widened or narrowed. After all that was recorded, I went to their website to printout the spec. sheet with the style, modifications, foam type, upholstery fabric, and any other changes, including my trunk backrest.
They had a online 20% off coupon and the tolal cost was $264.00, and the turn around time was about a week. I am totally satisfied and I have recommended them to several Valk riders and they are all happy with their modified seats too.

I'm happy with my mustang. If I had the cash I might splurge on a Ultimate.

Just got the Bigboy Ultimate 3 piece for Xmas. Dont have the rider backrest though. Much better than stock, but you still feel it after a while just not as bad. Aside from getting a custom fitted seat, Ultimate would be good bet if you got the money. I'm 6'2" 240lbs 32inseam. PS: I need to get a new pic for my avatar to show the seats.

I had the OEM on my 97 Tourer, then put a Corbin with backrest. I liked it, although it is a bit hard after a days ride. I put a Diamond on the 99 Interstate, it was too tall and wide in the front, so would probably be worse for you. I then put a Corbin on the Interstate, and again, I liked it but wanted something better for all day rides and went with the Ultimate with backrest. I like this one and can ride most all day, but on long trips we have a couple of pieces of sheepskin that I tie on top and it helps get a little air circulating around your backside. I know some swear by the Russel Day Long, but have not tried one of those.

I've had Ultimates on both my Valks. Love 'em!!! I've never tried a Mustang on a Valk, but I've tried one on a Magna, not impressed. If somebody GAVE me a Corbin I'd give it away..or sell it cheap. If the stock seat works for you, go for it. A lot cheaper that way. (I'm 6'0" and 225...was 240 not long ago!)
I've heard good about the Russell Day Long (????) but I've never tried one.

The OEM seat was on my Valk when I bought it in 2005 I bought a Mustang seat after a few months, but it didn`t fit me. I ended up with a Ultimate Lowrider. The Ultimate seat carries absolutely its name with honor. As they say, you sit in the Ultimate seat not on it....

My Valking experience... from worst to best:
OEM '97-'99 seat (GARBAGE) Ultimate Kingboy (didn't like having the twins shoved up so far that they were trying to come out my nose) Corbin Mustang (put 40,000 miles on one) OEM '00 and newer The best I've ridden is my Russell Day Long.... hands down. Have 100,000 miles on mine. The only way to go is LEATHER to sit on... you can keep that other rot.

Bought the bike with OEM seat. Bought a Corbin,, Then tried a Mustang, but it was too high, so I sold it,, bought the Ultimate and it was better than the previous ones, but still was monkey butt time after 4 hours or so. Just bought a Russell Day-Long several months ago, and so far it's best for me. I'll know more about it after these next two weekends of riding. They may not be the prettiest seat out there, but your back side ain't got eyes anyways. I think Willow referred to them as "butt ugly",,, The Russell is $$$ though, but your butt will thank you, and your SO too if she rides with you. Mine did

+1 on the Russell Day Longs, especially in leather. Great seats. I have had OEM, Ultimate, Corbin, and the Russell. Russell wins hands down.

The original seat on my Valk was bad. I had Mark of Diamond Seats make me custom seats for my weight (230) and inseam (30 inches). I found that the seat was too wide in front, made me scoot forward too much when coming to a stop. I sent it back and Mark shaved off some on the front. Worked perfectly after that. I've always found that Diamonds worked great for me, Two diamonds on my GW's and the Diamond on my Valk. I've sold the Valk but I have the Diamond seat. It'll be put up for sale shortly. I wish that I could put it on my 750 Nighthawk which came with a Corbin Gunfighter, the hardest seat known to Man. I do not like Corbins and neither do my sons. Here's a pic of the Diamond.

Aren't Russels sort of new seats made from old seats? What seat pans are on y'all's Russels? Is a 1st generation Valkyrie seat pan fine to start from? I like my Ultimate, just wondering out loud... Here it is a few seconds after I took it out of the box - it was waiting on me when I got home from a weekend ride to the coast... sure could have used it... -Mike

I HAVE TRIED THE: OEM PRE-2000.......AWFUL OEM 2000........MUCH BETTER (SUPPORTS LOWER BACK MORE) CORBIN......LOOKS GREAT. BUT THATS IT. WAY UNCOMFORTABLE FOR ME. MUSTANG SET WITH AND MUSTANG SET WITHOUT BACK REST......GREAT FOR BACK SUPPORT, HEIGHT, AND 5 HR RIDE. HAVE YET TO GO FURTHER THAN 5 HRS.

Just bought the same seat, solo, it certainly sits different from my late model stocker, which is surpisingly comfortable. I have to ride it for a while to see if it's for me, sits much higher than the oem 2000 seat. Love the looks, though, mine has studs and a removable driver back rest that folds down. hoser

I soon got used to the seat height and had no problem flat footing. The velour was especially cool in warm weather. No monkey butt.

97 Tourer:
Stock seat = crappola 2000 seat = a shade better, still monkey butt Corbin = w/backrest, took 1 trip & sold it at InZane in oHIo. Ultimate = before Des started naming them: Ultimate = 1st edition - w/ Backrest, Now we are starting to make headway. Ultimate = 2nd edition = w/backrest, I screwed up the cover with a screwdriver, Des upgraded it to his next design. Ultimate = Low Rider = 140K and still working, but, ya get monkey butt after 5 to 7 hours of hard playing.
Special note: IF, I go back to long distance riding again, after my lungs get healed up, I'll try a Russell Day Long.
I rode Ratdog's Russell and since we are built about alike, well close enough, it was a very comfortable seat.............
Russell is butt ugly, but who the hell can see the seat if your butt is covering it up... Since I don't have to look at it, it suits my phat arse just fine.

Yeah Mike, the Russell is built on a seat pan you provide them. Obviously sending them a cheap OEM seat makes more $ sense than sending an $$ aftermarket seatpan. and as RJ mentions, nobody will see the seat when you're riding it anyways. No point in having a nice looking bike that's too uncomfortable to ride.

The pans are fine, what Honda spec'd to have done with the pan was pure garbage. I scored when I got mine. A local Valkyrie owner traded his bike in on something else. When I found his bike on the showroom floor and inquired about it.. he was grumbling about the non-OEM saddle that was on the bike. I told him I had a complete pair of OEM seats off a '99 Valk Std. (nearly new). He jumped at a chance to trade straight across. I hauled ass back home to get 'em and complete the deal.
