A rare and beautiful snow scene there in Georgia.  I would imagine that there is panic on the roadways!

I made it home before it started laying on the roads...my Wife was ok until she pulled into our street...she said it was a little slick by then....

I read that they've closed some of the roads in Georgia.........we shouldn't.....shouldn't get much more than 3-4 "......I hope...... cooldude

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Warmest January in history here in Seattle-Tacoma (also known as Southern Alaska) - zero snow all winter and temps in the 50's all month.

Nice pics Stanley. You have a nice place there. You folks further south than us was supposed to get the snow. As late as noon today they were saying nothing would fall north of I-40. At 6:00 they were saying 0 - 1 inch. We have about 2" now and it's still coming down.

I just took Lucy out to do her business and there's maybe 4" on the back deck...with some snow still falling...I hope it stops soon, otherwise we will begin having limbs breaking..... Sad

Not good when the limbs start breaking. That usually means power lines start falling. When we bought this place there must've been a couple hundred trees in the yard. We had a big ice storm one night. You would have thought a gunfight was going on outside the way the limbs were snapping.

We got several inches in Albany Ga as well, Stanley. Your pictures are comparable to SW Georgia, we get some every 10 years or so and it's the same panic every time... it's just snow!  tickedoff

Yesterday afternoon we had a divisional meeting scheduled. I was sure that it was not going to be fun. It was scheduled for 3:30, and the weather people thought our snow would start at 4:00, so that made it even less fun.

I stowed my papers in my saddle bag and went to the meeting.

I knew the meeting was going to get bad when the divisional leader showed up with bottles of wine and six packs of beer to make it go a little easier. Real glass wine glasses. Not cheap beer. That did not bode well at all. He was preparing us for a long meeting.

After some discussion we established that our meeting was fruitless and could not accomplish anything.  After that was established we kept discussing for what felt like an eternity. Ultimately the meeting wasn't that long. I sat there with a sealed beer in my hand. I didn't want to drink before possibly riding home in the snow, and I didn't want to miss the free beer, so I thought I'd save it for later.  I stuck it in my inner jacket pocket before I left.

We stepped outside, small groups of us still discussing the meeting trying to figure out why it took so long.  Outside snow was peppering down.  It wasn't sticking.  I called my wife to tell her I was on my way, and off I went.

The closer I got to home the more snow dropped from the sky. The road stayed clear under my tourer, but it was falling quickly and collecting on the sides of the road.

That was a fun ride after a long pointless meeting.

Today was 1-3", and the news is calling that a light dusting. Most years that would be our big snow fall. Now they're saying it may snow again Sunday evening into Monday morning, and on the long range they're seeing snow again next Friday potentially.  What the heck!

I still don't understand how it was snowing heavier to the south and not to the north? That seems weird. Snowed at Myrtle Beach too this storm. Odd.

It's good to see you post, Wingman.

I was in Albany, 1978 I believe, when there was just enough snow to lie on the grass.  Pandemonium was rampant.  I can imagine what it might be like with several inches.

Keep your head down!   Shocked

Thanks Carl! I started a new job about a year ago and although it is still electrical work, it is in a totally different area of manufacturing... there is a considerable effort required in learning a whole new set of parameters applying to one's livelihood and I am finally starting to settle in to this new way of thinking. In short, I have time to post for a change!  Smiley

"Global Warming"=Climate Change
Would any of you agree that there has been a climate change?
The warming that causes this change is in the oceans and these same oceans define our weather.
This is the warmest Vancouver has EVER been in recorded history.
Does anyone believe in El Ninos or La Ninas? No one used to believe in these phenomenons either.
Why are the seas rising and the Arctic becomes passable by ship?
Based on the Earth's rotational path, this should actually be a cooling period and yet temps are up.
It's unfortunate that scientists gave this a title that could be picked apart by so many not in the scientific community.

I'm so glad you asked! Absolutely I believe there is a climate change going on. It has been going since this planet began its journey towards its eventual demise! The part I take issue with is that we think we are the cause; we are the cause of pollution and I think we should do our part as residents here, to correct that as much as possible, but global warming? I just don't think so. I believe if we were not here, this planet's climate would continue plodding along between ice ages and floods and volcanic ruptures until it did whatever planets do. Of course, I'm a layman and you will reply telling me so. But it is COLD in SW Georgia and that makes the entire concept of "global warming" funny! I'm sorry you don't think so...  Smiley

There is no one on this board that enjoys debunking liberal garbage more than your truly, however, as far as liberals are concerned on the issue of global warming...the old saying "Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn from time to time" holds true.  Liberals got this one right.  There is simply too much empirical data to support it (yes even considering the falsified "climategate" data).

There are several documented cases with photographic evidence of glaciers melting over the past 150 years.  The only debate is how much of this is occurring naturally and how much is man made.  I firmly believe that mankind has some contribution.

Following is simply one of many websites that shows some of this photographic evidence....
