Man it's hot.  Angry

I'm up early (before the sun), get in my walk just after sunup, have a little breakfast and find something to do outside.  Mid morning I have to work in the shade, about noon even the shade is too muggy hot and I have to come inside.  I am not riding in this heat.

There's only so much housecleaning and indoor things to do.

Praise electricity and air conditioning.

And deliver us from full sun.

Heh, after weeks of triple digits we had a cold front come through last night, so the high's today are mid 90's...

...I'm going for a ride!

Need to break in my new helmet anyway. (Old modular had one of the hinges of the face part break somewhere in Wisconsin on Blake and my Inzane ride.)

I’d kill for mid 90s. We’ve had 115+ for a week now and no let up in sight. Don’t give me that “dry heat” nonsense.

I don't know how you guys do it.

I'd almost move back to Michigan.  Almost.

(I can get up and ride early in the morning.  I've already done it twice.)

But it is a dry heat

 Wink

Would you rather expire from being stuck in a sauna or a steam room?

Neither.  I am sittin in the ac when i am tired of sittin in the pool

And that water is close to 88 now   Shocked Shocked

What I do not understand is why Bonnie chooses to sit in the 104 degree hot tub

Been a tad warmish here in SoMo. And did I mention the HUMIDITY? The 3d of July paid my city bill so tricity still on which equates to A/C still running which with my breathing issues helps out a LOT. Hung out my AMERICAN Flag on the 4th of July and it wuz a hammer blow puttin the Flag up and a double hammer blow taking the Flag down. Weathe guessers said it were a bit more pleasent today and weather guessers were WRONG!  Lips Sealed As Robin Willieams stated in Good Morning Vietnam-More hot and chitty with continued hot and chitty fer the forseeable future!  crazy2 But it IS Weather while mere humans grouse about it mere humans can Not change it. RIDE SAFE.

Does Bonnie have ongoing back issues ? I'd kill for a hot tub most evenings....

How can you have a back yard (or any grass) in 118 degrees?

Short of automatic sprinklers.

I believe gravel is the norm in that area, a lush green lawn is the exception...

Had a nice ~140 mile ride with Serk Jr, surprised the spousal unit while she was doing her thing. They tried to get me in on an observer ride (Sit in the co-pilot's seat) but evidently the pilot has a new girlfriend that was in that seat all day, so.....

(Spousal unit)

Then did another atrocity, took the Gold Wing to a spray wand car wash to wash the 3100 miles of Inzane dirt and bugs off...

Nice ride. Now time for a cold beverage... Was mid 90's, but low humidity for here so was a pleasant day...

I think that "dry heat" thing only works until about 95. After that, hot is hot!!

Stepping out of 104 hot tub into 90 degree air temp probably feels 14 degrees cooler?

I don't have any grass.  Lots of cactus, several native trees but they don't require mowing.

We are starting the 3rd day of 100 degree temps.  Normally in low 80's.  Suppose to get a break and go back to low 90's by next Sunday.  Yeah, we have dry heat.  Humidity is in single digits or lower.   Still warm for us.  Early mornings rides only.

Now if the idiots down in CA will stop setting fires.  With this heat we don't need the smoke too.

no idea how anyone works outside in 90 PLUS degree heat regardless of humidity level.  I can do 1-2 hours but that is about it before must go inside.  Was only around 84 out (mid 80s) and the kicker was 80 percent humidity or so and after only 1 hour doing stuff outside,  my shirt was ringing wet and dripping sweat badly and was NOT doing too much heavy labor.   Notice the older I get, mid 50s, the less I like the HEAT and cannot tolerate it.

If we've got anything to do outside, we get up early and try to wrap it up by 9:00.  That's about when it starts hitting triple digits.  The highest heat of the day is usually around 4 or 5 in the afternoon.  The guys doing summer road work here work at night.  The guys doing construction and roofing start before sunrise and knock off by noon time.  Back east, we were shut in for the winter.  Here we're shut in for the summer and we're out hiking in the winter.

Yeah, "Dry Heat" only helps to a certain extent... An oven is a "dry heat" too...

And these temps aren't anything to "Man it up" and just deal with, sadly...  :'(

Outside early to walk, and then early yard work (for trash pickup today).

I come inside at 1PM (95 degrees outside) and the fan is blowing but the AC is not cooling, and my little digital temp gauges all over the house are way up.  WTF?????  tickedoff

No blown circuit, new filter in this week.

I got a brand new furnace and preferred Bryant AC just 2 years ago.  My HVAC guy is a friend and neighbor just 5 houses down.  I called his company and he is out of town for 10 days.  They will get me a service call later from 4-7PM.

I have a little window unit in my upstairs bedroom, so it's running full blast constant, and at least a little of that is circulating via cold air returns.  Very little.  (See if I can blow that up too)

If it's not one thing, it's another.   Undecided

While it is true that extreme heat can be injurious we have weakened ourselves to a much lower number by our continued dependence upon air conditioning.  I myself am not particularly a fan of air conditioning (no pun intended).  My wife an I fight regularly over my standards,

It amazes me that people who ride motorcycles out in the natural weather environment retreat so quickly into the moderating spaces (and cages) of modified temperatures.

I am 73.  As a youngster I lived where air conditioning was not readily available or readily found.  We and our ancestors rarely heard of people succumbing to fatality due to the high temperatures.

Right on the money Brian.

Fixed.

It's taking a while to bring the house down from sauna to normal.  (I don't keep it cold, but I do keep it cooler than 90 something)  crazy2

When I served on U S S Yorktown CVS 10 there was NO airconditioning in the enlisted spaces. The Pilots Ready Room had A/C as did the Officers quarters. When I slept days I had a small window A/C But could NOT use it at night. 1st car with A/C was my 76 Olds Toranado. When you are rolling in AMERICAS South West desert country A/C extends your driving day and keeps you from falling asleep. And at the present time with my breathing issues A/C makes my days some more bearable. BUT I also see what you allude to because even in school growing up NO A/C then. Growing up-50s 60s even the larger stores then NO A/C. BUT I NEVER thought A/C would become a Matter of health for me. RIDE SAFE.

[/i][/color]

That is exactly what I was thinking.  I didn't watch close enough how he tested to determine it was faulty, and you'd need to do that.  The part switch-out looked plug and play easy.  But I'd like to not get poked by 220.  He didn't knock the power off, but I think I would.

I suppose there's Utubes on it.

When my friend gets back home I'm going to ask him about self help repair.  ($330 BTW, and a tip)

Depending on how expensive they are, and easy availability, I don't think I'd get a few capacitors.  I'd get one.  The whole unit could need replaced, with a different capacitor.

I've got two units, upstairs and down, so would need to have 2 on hand (And they're different makes/models, no idea if same caps or now, really need to get out there, take the top off and have a look see.)

I figure even without a tester, if fan is blowing, but not cooling, easy enough to swap the cap out and see if it starts cooling...

You think it is HOT, you should try it without power!  After the hurricane, we have been without power for 3 days now.  Got the generator running the fridges/freezer, fans, and tv.  Still no power, internet, or cell phone service.

And this is why I got a generator too. I hope to never have to use it, but I feel it's when, not if, I'll ever need it....
