Gilligan and Navigator - Wherever we ended up

Southwest Indiana

« on: February 14, 2010, 11:23:04 AM »

Day 9 – 6/26/09 --- 205 Miles (Kalispell, MT to Invermere, British Columbia)
47 at 6:30 AM --- 70 at 3 PM

We left at 9:15 and rode US 93.  Two deer ran out in front of us resulting in hard-braking and elevated adrenaline levels.  We got gas at Eureka, MT before crossing the border at Roosville, British Columbia.  BC Routes 93 and 95 were beautiful.  Mountains were on both sides.  There was a small amount of rain before Cranbrook.  We had lunch at the Wasa Country Pub.  We stopped at Columbia Lake, which is the beginning of the Columbia River.  We arrived at the Invermere Super 8 at 2:30 PM.  We talked to the young man at the front desk.  He rode motorcycles and suggested we change our route to Banff and go further north to Golden and take Trans Canada 1 so that we could ride through the Yoho National Park and stop to see Emerald Lake and Takakkaw Falls.

Gilligan, how long was this trip?  Really am enjoying the pictures.  Lizzie and I are heading to Sturgis this year.  It will be her first long distance trip.

I seem to remember you two had a couple of long trips.

These pictures are helping pass the time this winter but it's also giving the the itch to ride.

Thanks, keep the pics coming.

This trip ended up being 25 days.  We have had other longer trips I have yet to post.

Where and when are you two going?

Hi, Ben.  We often think about you.  We hope to link up with you at Inzane, even though we'll be in the Prius.  Ride safe, friend.

Heading to Hill City SD the week before Sturgis.  My buddies and I based out of there last year and really enjoyed it.  We kept talking about the trip so much the wifes asked if they could go.

Will be heading out at the end of July, back the second weekend of August, in time to take youngest
back to college.

Lizzies first real road trip was to CBR a few years ago.  The next year we went South Bend for a Ride for Kids event, headed to see her brother in Ft. Wayne, then rode up to Sagatuck MI.  She did pretty good but the day we headed home was cool and overcast and we did not have the proper gear.  Had to stop and buy her a nice heavy sweatshirt to keep her warm.

I have to agree with Fudgies statement, "It take more love to share a motorcycle seat than a bed". Will be an interesting trip, 6 couples going.

Keep the pictures coming.

Gilligan, those are some excellent photos and it is always nice when folks post the roads that they took.  I definitely added a few entries to my "Must see roads and places" based on your post.
