Last week my wife Lois tested positive for the new covid light, so I decided to quarantine by taking the Valk on an over night camping trip to Beavers Bend State Park, Broken Bow Ok. I took back roads south of the Red river. It wasn't the fastest route, but virtually no cars and very pretty roads all paved. I decided to post it here for me and any others who might like to try it.

I take 455 east out of Celina so I get the tight curves in, then right after the Anna city limits sign pop on FM3356 and pick FM121 east about 4 miles West of Van Alstyne. Left on 160 merges into 69 and you pickup 56 East at Bells. Take 56 to Honey Grove and pickup 100 North or as I prefer pickup 78 North after the Bonham court house. Follow the signs to Lake Bonham, Ivanhoe puts you on 273 all the way to Monkstown then left on 100 north which becomes 79 East. Then 197 East through Chicota to 271 North about a mile and you cross the Red River. First right is Ok 109 east which hits OK 70 East which will take you all the way to Broken Bow. Then 259 north and the Beavers Bend park road will be 259a with two access intersections off 259. I think it's a great ride. Then if you head for Arkansas the low traffic great roads go on almost for ever.

Sounds like a great ride.  How was the temperature last week?  This week, with the tropical system in the Gulf, the temps are perfect.

Sounds like an awesome ride Pete! Thanks for sharing the roads with us and hope the quarantine part of the trip was successful too.

Yeah, definitely looks like a wonderful ride.  The southeastern part of OK is really beautiful and has great roads.

Thanks for sharing your route!
