Gilligan and Navigator - Wherever we ended up

Southwest Indiana

Day 10 – 6/27/09 (Part 1) --- 187 Miles (Invermere, British Columbia to Banff, Alberta)
41 at 6:00 AM --- 74 at 4:30 PM

We left Inveremere at 8:15 AM and modified our route as was suggested by the young man.  We rode to Golden, BC along BC Highway 95.  The Columbia Valley Wetlands ran next to the road between the Rockies, on our right, and next range to the west.  The ride was beautiful.  We gassed up in Golden and talked to two other couples on motorcycles.  Of course they were impressed with the Valk and that we had ridden from southern Indiana.  We then rode on trans-Canada 1 through the Yoho National Park.  There was road construction at first.  It was wet, bumpy and coated with a liquid like cement water that made the surface very slippery and the Valk very “chalky-looking.”  The highway followed the Kicking Horse River, which ran in the valley below.  We rode in to Emerald Lake, which was a beautiful green and then to the Natural Bridge.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Great pics Gilligan  cooldude
In '03 we flew into Vancouver, took a shuttle to Whistler where we got on a rented bike and took a 12 day tour of BC and the western edge of Alberta.(Jasper, the Icefields Parkway to Banff)  I wasn't confident in my trip planning skills back then as I am now so we went with a tour company. I don't think we were on trans-Canada 1 any at all.
Looking forward to the rest of your pics. Thanks for sharing and reviving the memories.
