Still juust cant believe this. I hollered BS when I first saw this but finally did accept it as true when the Iron Butt Association verified it. The IBA checks all rides thoroughly. You have to turn in all gas recipts and motorcycle mileages at those gas stops. Woodlands Texas Harley Davidson verified they did All his maintenance.

I could believe a 1000 mile day or a couple in a row. But after a few your brain/body can not be resting enough to safely do this 100 days. Perhaps they are not consecutive days?

His ride raised over $100,000.00 for Muscular Dystrophy research... "Hop’s heroic ride raised more than $100,000 for DMD via Mile Monsters Inc., a non-profit group of long-distance motorcycle riders committed to raising both awareness and money to fight Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. " He also carried tracking devices: "His record ride was charted by two tracking devices: the US Fleet Tracking system, which shows where a rider is in real time, and Spotwalla, which tracks and displays the route taken. If true, it's freaking amazing. I could not and would not do 1K miles in a day, even in my truck, even in my youth. I bet there weren't blood tests, for Amphetamines. Are you up for the game? Man, I've been up all week. On my last drive of 9 hours, I got real sleepy, so I chugged a Coke. Then I had to stop and take two pees a half hour apart. My prostate is the size of a football. In college, 3 of us took my van ('67 Dodge) straight through from Detroit to Miami. We took turns driving and sleeping in back.

More than a few years ago I covered a bit over 700 miles in one day, pretty much nonstop except for gas and restroom. Would grab a bite to eat on the go while in the station. Needless to say, I wasn't ready for another 700 miles the next day. My last long ride was from central Illinois to home in the Green Bay area. That was about 450 miles and was glad to be off the bike. Seems the years shorten one's tolerance...among other things.

I did do a drive from Bozeman MT to McNary Az in one day. 1068 miles. Yeah, I was tired. I was in my middle 20's and driving a 69 Camero. AND did exceed the speed limit a bit I did go to work the next day and ended up fighting a fire till 1 the next day.

Have done 1500mi in 24 hours and have also done 2000mi in 48 hours (both Ironbutt verified). They both sucked and I would never attempt them again.

I did the Iron Butt 1,000 miles in 24 hours. Actually, counting travel to and from the start/end place, it was 1,125 miles in 22hours-55 minutes. That was on my VTX. Then rode straight thru from central MA to Columbus, Ohio, 700 something miles, again on the VTX. Got older, got the Valk, Morgantown, W.V. InZane to home right thru. Now retired, I’m pretty content to ease off, enjoy the sights. Did buy another VTX though, 05, 1800, 35k. Fast!

I did the IBA Saddlesore 1000 on my Valkyrie . Couple yrs later did the IBA Bun Burner Gold. 1,540 miles in 23 hrs 10 minutes. All on I-10 from Kerrville Tx to Benson Arizona...got my signing witnesses and gas receipts there in Benson...turned around and came back to Kerrville Tx. Allways wanted to try the IBA 50CC run. 50 hrs coast to coast. I know a lady who did it. Done got too old to try it now. I was a competetive rider most of my riding days. Around 70 yrs of age I started digressing and unable to make really long distance runs. 74 now and happy to be capable to still make short rides. Did Houston to northern Arkansas tour this year. Was going to make the Inzane run this year but had mechanical problems on the Valk and had to cancel. Maybe next year.

If you have 2 or more IBA awards...one being an "extreme ride" you gualify for the IBA "Mile Eater Award".
