The drive splines are easily damaged if not aligned properly. By aligned properly I mean squared up wheel to final drive. Both the wheel and the final drive need to be able to move when you torque the axle so alignment is achieved. So that means the right side shock should not be connected to the final drive and the final drive nuts finger tight. There should be nothing supporting the rear wheel when you torque the axle nut, then immediately torque the four final drive nuts
Download my PowerPoint slideshow in shoptalk. It’s called “rear end service by Chrisj”
Chris do u feel if it matters or not, if the left shock is also disconnected, which is what I do? thanks
