Hey all in Michigan...

Need to get a painter/body guy to repair the right saddlebag, radiator cover and fairing. They have some rash from an accident last Sept.

Am in Detroit/Oak PArk area, but anywhere in a 60 mile radius is fine.

Have an estimate fro $600 from a painter near Ypsi.

Any sugestions?

600 dollars is quite fair for those repairs/paint if the painter is reputable.
If you are repairing/painting to the original Honda paint colors, then $600 is a gift.
Remember, you get what you pay for.

Like Momz said it is a steal. The Earl Scheib cheap paint jobs are history. If you go colorrite.com and look up your exact match of your color combination and check out the prices you will vapor lock. I just bought a quart if straight black at PPG in Mt Clemens and it cost me $70. I buy my paint now from Cal. at about $45 a quart. The cost of paint is over the top and the EPA don't help. The new paints can be tricky and not forgiving like the old paints, so if you add that in, $600 is a deal if he can match it.

Sounds Good...

Painter was recommended by Rob at American Wing in Wayne.  He has worked on my bikes off and on for 20 years....

In the process of stripping off the parts to take in. FUN, FUN, FUN......

Will do Momz..... he worked on my 81 CB900 Custom and 85 Aspencade when I lived in Ann Arbor and he worked at Nicholsom's....  I then found out about Fran's in Wayne and took the Wing there for several years and was thrilled when I stopped in one day and found out Rob had bought the place..... He's the reason I still have the Valk after the Insurance Co. totaled it last Sept., actually rode it home from his shop!

Rob most likely refered you to Gary Stiehl. He does outstanding work. He painted my bike in 2007 including the tank mural. He will do a good job. If you do talkt o him let him know I said hello and I often think about how his son is doing.  Mike Terry

You can go to a paint supplier that has a scanner and save a ton of money on paint. Saddlebags was black and the trunk was red/black . I had the saddlebags painted in 1999 and the trunk painted in 2001. Perfect stock color match useing the scanner.

I am looking into having my bike painted also.  Just checked out a local guy that has a great reputation, awesome work and does a lot of work for custom bike shops on the East Coast.  He happens to be 15 minutes from me.  To do the parts of my Standard, he quoted me $800 for a basic paint or $1000 for a Candy based color.  Higher than I had hoped for but the guy is good.
