Saw a posting about a bike night at a local restaurant, so figured what the heck, dusted off the Valk, tossed Serk Jr. on the back and we headed over.

Nice enough folks. We were the only non v-twinkie bike present. Lots of Harley brand bikes, shirts, hats, jackets, etc. etc. etc...

Definitely not my vibe.

I like to drink.
I like to ride.

I do NOT like to drink then ride, or be around those who do.

These fine folks did not seem to have that same philosophy.

Had to literally bite my lips to not laugh out loud at one exchange:

"Bro! Your bike is LOUD!!!!"

"Yeah bro! Can't make 110 horsepower quiet!!!"

Oh well...  Went for a little ride around town on the way home, good to blow the cobwebs out on the ole' girl...

Ride 'em if ya' got 'em!

Agree wholeheartedly with the drinking and riding issue.   I choose to not only not participate but, don't want to be around those choosing to do so.   coolsmiley

It's a rare event in my experience that the HD rider cult accepts or welcomes a Honda rider into the group. But it does happen occasionally.   Seems kind of ironic but, every time I try such events, there's always a bunch of V twin riders looking over my Valkyrie.   The same ones who knock anything but an HD.
Interestingly, within my family, there are HD riders who won't ride anything different and several of my lifelong friends are part of the cult.   No, I can't explain it.

Oh, I don't mind riding some friend's HD for a short distance.   But, it's got to be a short ride.   I can only walk so far on my way back....................  Wink

There seem to be thousands of new Hogs all over my area.

Unlike the old days, many now return the biker wave.

Of course an Interstate dual headlight fairing looks remarkably similar to dresser Hogs head-on.

Sometimes the double take looks are pretty funny.  "Damn it, I waved to a Honda"  tickedoff

Most of my day rides out of town go through a little Yuppie hamlet that often has a bunch of Harleys parked in front of the few street-side restaurants.  I never ride to eat (I eat before I leave), but I have often thought of pulling in and asking if a Honda is allowed to park there.  Smiley

The next area I ride through getting out of town is the Manassas National Battlefield Park (which all good Virginians call Bull Run).  Nice place.

I would love to load and fire some of those old cannon, but after my past experience with black powder (and very old cannon) it would have to be light charges, and remote detonation from cover.  No way I would stand over one and light it off.  BOOM.

Oddly reminiscent of Nigel Tufnel's (Spinal Tap) "modified" guitar amplifier with the volume that goes to 11.  Huh?

If you think about it, it’s not about Harleys, it’s about people. We all know guns don’t kill people, the shooter does. Harleys don’t have there own attitudes, it their riders. Being more of a “car culture” person I don’t see this brand war as much as it happens with the Harley vs whatever. I appreciate Harleys as much as any bike out there, I just don’t desire to own one. Attitudes I can take or leave on a case by case basis.

I’d offer a guess that most of us enjoy not being seen as riding a cookie cutter bike, while enjoying a great bit of engineering that brings a smile every time you fire it up and swing a leg over the saddle. I now ride the ultimate cooking cutter bike being a Goldwing but somehow manage to enjoy the wind and I don’t feel too bad when I park along side any other make.

I love all motorcycles.

I could own just about any I want.

I prefer Honda motorcycles. It's what I'm used to and have never been let down by one.

It does seem the attitude of "The Motor Company" riders has tempered some, or maybe I'm just not around them as much as in the past.

I don't have anything against HDs in particular (although I don't believe they are as good of a machine as our Honda Valks), the interesting thing that I've discovered is that if one finds an HD rider away from the group cult, they are normally very nice folks.   But, as a group, not so much.   But, as I said, whenever I ride with them that haven't been around a Valk much or at all, they always take a peek at our Fat Ladies.  Wink

I don't know if I'm considered a HD rider being I've only had one for 2 yrs now but between myself, brother, son & nephew that have HD's I've never seen a change in personality whether riding in group or not.  Maybe were just enthusiasts, perhaps we don't fit the stereotypical HD culture your referring to.  I know some (my son) take offense whenever someone talks about the negative aspects of HD even if 100% true and to some it may become fighting words.  As for being as good or not is surely subjective as there are many aspects of my HD that's better than my Valk and there are many aspects of the Valk that's better than the HD.

No hate, and definitely no inferiority complex...

Nothing against Harleys or their riders.

I don't personally care for the owners... The folks who buy into the lifestyle and let it consume them.

But same respect for the riders as I give anyone on 2 wheels.... I wave at anyone, will stop and help anyone, from a Harley to a Vespa to a zip-splat...

Harley owners and Harley riders are not the same folks.

Just don't care to ride to a bar 1 mile from home, drink all night, then ride home again...

I made a post here. I can not find it. Seems like it has gone the way of the of the Democrat's strategy. Erase it and it never happened. I know some saw it , before you erased it, because of the replies. .If you do not agree with my opinion. Do not erase it. Debate it.

I try to wave at all bikes.  I find that for the most part if a Harley rider is wearing a helmet he will usually wave back.  If not wearing a helmet....not so much
