As some of you know, I spend most of my summer, spring and early fall riding in the good old US of A with some of you. I am considering gettiing "pay as you go"  sevice for one of my unlocked GSM Blackberrys and was wondering:

1. Who has the best coverage/service in the South.... NC, TN, GA, MS, VA, LA, ....

2. Who has the best coverage/service out West....MN, ND, SD, CO, MT, WY, NB, ....

Since my hardware is all GSM, so far my choices are AT&T and T-MOBILE. Don't know of any other carriers, but would be open to any opinions.

Cost is comperable but AT&T has better long distance rate to Canada.
What I really need is comments on coverage.

TIA for you comments....

You are not going to find 1 (one) provider that will give you good coverage all over the US.

I have Verizon and out West, & parts of Indiana it sucks for coverage.

My wife has US  Cellular and it sucks over in the KY TN GA area for coverage.....

I don't remember exactly where it was, but I had 4 bars on my  coverage, and she had 1 or none, depended on which way she turned...  It was in Colorado if memory serves me correctly.

It is just a toss up and where you are going to be spending your most time.

Go into all the provider(s) and tell em you want to see their FLAT spots........   Pay attention when you are looking at them, then make a decision on what you have searched out and one that will fill all of your needs.

Cellular South is supposed to have the best coverage in the S/E U.S.

Overall, you won't beat AT&T for nationwide coverage.

They are also the most expensive in most instances, but if coverage is important to you, they are the ticket.

Good Luck!

I had Verizon Wireless for years and was perfectly happy with them...except for the fact that we didn't have coverage at my in-law's RV where we spend alot of weekends in the summer.  My in-laws have AT&T and they have coverage there, so we switched to AT&T also and I'm still pretty much happy.  This actually saves us a bunch of minutes because when my wife calls her family, it is free minutes because they are all on AT&T also.  Plus, I found out that my employer has a deal with AT&T that I get a pretty nice discout off my monthly bill.  So I ended up saving money on top of it all.
