So as I was debating with myself about going to the store for the last minute shopping, the thoughts of last minute

madness of others and traffic, crowds, parking and attitudes, the rush the congestion and traffic manic people

consumed with last minute shopping, filled my decision making.

IN  this pondering, I made the decision to battle the masses and go to the mall. But what form of transportation

would I use.

In these deep thoughts  Grin  I reckoned that  I would rather use the Valk than the car.

Then thinking of how the Valk use has turned into more of a daily transport  rather than one only for
Pleasurable rides made it a  Huh? type of moment

It does not make sense but even in the midst of all the Christmas madness and the
Craziness of the holiday traffic I felt safer on the bike.

Never mind that I was able to get around traffic and park in places where no car could go.

That it takes about a half hour off the normal last minute rush and got me out in the fresh air and sunshine.

With less aggravation that waiting for some A@@ to learn to drive.

So in this story the question, how many use their Valks daily as transport as a daily driver?

I know many cant because of weather, but as much as possible. It makes you think of the Valk in a different light.

Most everyday I take the Valk to work and home for many reasons and enjoy the time on these rides. But

To use it daily for errands and getting around is what I do and realized that it has changed the way I think of my

Valk.

My first go to is not my car but my Valk and weekend rides are not so soul crushing if I cannot get out and ride. They still

offer the thrill and peace of riding but it has changed the way I think of the Valk. I doubt if it had been any other bike that

this would be possible on a continual basis since the reliability of the Valk and able to ride any time has changed the

idea of riding for me.

And this ride or adventure, it was great. People were their normal, parking was a madhouse, and I was

able to mitigate all of it and got in and out in record time. Even got to take the long way home to see

some sights and just feel the wind.

Merry Christmas to me,   2funny 2funny 2funny 2funny cooldude

Back when I worked, it was my daily driver. Actually I had 3 bikes. A ‘98 tourer, an ‘05 Wing and a 2010 ZX14 Concours. My coworkers would ask which one I rode today. Sold all 3 just before retirement and now have a ‘97 tourer. It’s a play toy now.

After my chilly morning walk I had a little breakfast, then cleaned up the house a bit.

It's warmer (40) and dry (but no sun).

I thought about a ride.  It would not be that busy Christmas day.  It wouldn't have to be far.

But it's cold and dreary.

I went out 3 times trying to convince myself, but it's no go.  And I didn't feel like dressing up like the Michelin Man either.

It'll be warmer the next few days and if it doesn't rain, maybe I can have a ride.

All the old turkey Christmas movies are on, and I've seen them all 127 times, and none interest me.

Mom called me last night feeling a little down (missing Dad, gone 14 years), and I cheered her up and talked about past family Christmases, and made her laugh.

Glad you got out for a spin Robert.   cooldude

I use the 04 bmw RT1150rtp as my go to work bike once the time change takes effect

Will not risk things falling off the valk due to the volume and inability to dodge ALL of the potholes on the way to and in the Bronx

But I am still waiting for the almost new abs to get put into the bmw and with the heated grips and the fact that it much more able to be thrown around being only 640lbs and the aforementioned abs that bike is also my main winter bike   going around a curve on the goat trail the abs has saved me from black ice many times

I remember once gman and I rode to danbury for a breakfast meet with the new england group and it was 18 degrees. But it was a sunny 18. Going 80 on 684 gman with his half helmet was an icicle.   That was before I added electrics but at least I had a full face helmet lol   I rode bent over with my hands on the valve covers and yes the bakers were closed.  we were the only ones to ride our bikes there Cheesy

I treat the Cobra bike as a ride but I ride it almost every day. Well, a little less since the Cobra car came along. It’s still showroom clean or I don’t go to bed. lol

2010 ZX14 Concours.

Sometimes when wanting to maneuver just a little faster, I think about one of these.

The Cobra can fill the gap in between car and bike, but nothing beats riding the bike.

Have 2 convertibles and take one out at regular intervals but nothing beats the bike most times.

My ridding is regulated by road salt. When the roads get salted, usually in the middle of November, than the motorcycle stays in the heated garage and gets all its maintenance and any needed repairs or wanted upgrades. Once the motorcycle is ready than all our ridding gear gets checked over, all leather gets treated, and any gear not in good condition gets replaced. April rolls around and the motorcycle comes out, replaces the cages and ridding takes over.

Technically I agree with you but each is thrilling in its own way. The Cobra bike is still on top but my wife doesn’t ride much anymore so when we can go together it’s in the MX

Well, it was sunny and dry yesterday, and when it hit 44 at 2PM, I suited up and went for a ride for 2 hours.  As chilly as I care to ride, but man it really raises my spirits. Only saw a few other riders, all suited up warm.  I celebrated with 3 beers (after the ride), which is apparently my limit anymore (not drunk, but moderately lit up).  Those Coronas have been in my fridge for several years, and have not gone skunk.

50 today, but rain all day.  60s Sunday and dry, so I'll go again.  Cold will be back shortly.

I'm not all that fond of riding when it's below 50F any more, plus the wife can't get on the Valk with me any more either, so it sits in the garage most of the time. When you have to haul a mobility scooter and have a spouse that can't join you, its just not as much fun not practical to ride. Besides, I have 3 diesel VWs that need driven to keep rotating fuel to match the seasons with...

Do you treat your bike as a ride or daily rider?

YES ! To  both..
The bike makes  going to stores  and running errands way more fun!
If I could run feed and Fuel with the bike instead  of a 25' truck I would !

60 degrees and I got in a great 4 hours today.

Yeeeeee haw!!

Out in the 2lane rolling hill VA woodlands, I came over a hill and there was a gynormous tree down across the road.  Holy crap.  No way to get by that.  Did a Uey and found another way to proceed (without getting lost).

Roads were all wet and the bike got muddy in back.  Oh well.   Grin

55 tomorrow, and I'll do it again (minus the big tree road, that thing may take days to get cut up and moved.)

I used to use my Valkyrie (before I sold it) as both a daily rider and as a pleasure ride.  The problem was that the 15 minute trip to shop at the mall ended up taking 4 hours as I found myself heading out for a "ride" after the shopping was done.

Now that happens on my BMW R1200GS.  I have yet to try to find a solution.

Buy a gallon of ice cream! This might get you home sooner unless you also buy plastic spoons.
