So this afternoon I sat at a red light sipping on my drink.  I speculated that when the left turn light arrow came on I would have adequate time to put the drink down before moving.

Yes, I know I have been chided often not to mix drinking and driving.  I regretted disregarding the advice.  More deeply I regretted sitting in a cage sipping a cup of coffee.  It was upper thirties outside.  In younger days I might have geared up and been on two wheels.  I'm older than I once was.

The good news is that we are a day closer to Spring.  Come on sunshine!   Smiley

Up here in NoVA, they forecast a small blizzard of sleet and snow.  That's pretty rare here.

It's going to be colder yet the next few days, so I decided to go out with my backpack blower and clean up the yard a bit.

It was cold but not bad and it looked pretty clear, but ominous to the South.  Not 20 minutes into the work, the wind picked up big time and sure as heck a blizzard hit us hard.  It's pretty ridiculous using a blower in a blizzard and I started laughing, quit and went inside.

We were blanketed in white in 15 minutes.

Just before sundown, the sun peeked out from the horizon for a few minutes and lit up all the giant oaks bare of leaves but glistening white in icy snow.  A rare and quite beautiful sight.

More snow is predicted for Monday.   Marvelous.

I spent the 80's and 90's in Wy.  At that time, we could drink and drive.  That is, if you weren't drunk.  Many of the folks use to talk about distances in number of beers.  Didn't see many accidents due to that behavior.  Thou the number of accidents per 1000 residents was high due to the low number of folks.

I personally did not drink beer while driving.  Did have a thermos of coffee.  Pouring a cup at 70's mph was tricky.   angel

I don't ride in snow. I do not like riding below 50 *. IF I had a working cup holder, I might drink water or pop sitting at a stop sign / red light. No Alcohol while riding and driving , only a drink or 2 at most only in the cage (never on 2 wheels).

This reminds me of when my Mother was complaining about my driving being to jerky, when I was a teenager, her reasoning was she and my stepdad could drink their cocktails while he was driving, with out spilling. Smiley

Apparently, she would not be able if I was driving.

Seemed logical at the time, but took a few years to sink in. Roll Eyes

Dad taught me to drive at 9 yrs old and in short order I became his DD.

I would later learn that he did the same with my 3 older brothers.

I am told that when about 2yo, before child seats, my mom had me on the front seat with her in our early 50s Chevy.  She stopped (car running in park) and ran up to a house to give them something.  I climbed over and stood on the seat and grabbed the wheel, pulled the auto gearshift into drive (monkey see, monkey do) and idled right across the street and hit a tree on the other side.  She ran after me but not soon enough.  The car was undamaged, but I was reportedly 'white as a sheet.'

I of course have no recollection of this.... or where I was going.  Grin

I was just now on the phone with her and asked for the story again, to get it right.  She laughed about it and said she never again left a kid in the car with it running.

Kids.  You can't live with them, and you can't drop them off at the orphanage.  Smiley

yah,  do NOT drink alcohol and drive anymore as a stupid kid age 18-21 or so have done a few times for sure over the legal limit.  I knew better, but as said, dumb young adult.  Glad that age has passed me LONG ago.

ONE bad habit I do still have is checking or  sending TEXTS while vehicle is stopped and a few times while vehicle in motion on a rural somewhat straight road NO vehicles around.  I did not know that texting with vehicle running but completely stopped was legal in WI until this past year.  I rarely check my phone anyways while driving but one slip up and game over.

drinking and driving is nowhere as an issue anymore as texting and driving which seems like is the norm nowadays.
