I've heard of 'em, I believe they came into being when the AARP was lobbying in favor of Obamacare...

Don't know anyone who's a member... Only benefit I see to AARP is the 20% discount though, so...

(Although they sure send me a lot of spam begging me to join now that I'm age eligible... )

I joined AMAC about 8 years ago. Places that honor an AARP discount almost always offer the same for my AMAC membership. AMAC magazine is wonderfully way conservative. I'm happy with them.

That's the problem with most of these organizations (and charities).

If you join or donate, your mailbox, telephone and email is shortly full of also-rans who want you to join or donate too... for the foreseeable future.

My first question to any is whether they sell or give my name to anyone else for any purpose.

I sent a pretty healthy contribution to DJT and wrote that 'this was it', and have gotten 50 more requests (and dozens from other conservatives around the country I never heard of).  I fully support him (and understand the business angle completely), but they all go in the round file.

The collective abuse makes me think I should join or contribute to no one at all. (Except DJT, and my local conservatives who never win).

Screw AARP.

And BTW, I've learned that if you answer the phone with some unintelligible caller ID showing (to stop it from ringing) and say nothing at all, no one picks up unless you stay on the line a long time.  Count to 3/4 and hang up.  They almost never call back either.

One of the guys I worked with mentioned AARP was anti-gun. Don't know, I'm not a member.

My cell phone (yeah Jess, I know) only rings on numbers in my "cell phone book". It still is listed as a recent call and they can leave a voice mail. Most don't.
