As a lifelong Detroit Lions fan, I was so hoping we might make it to the finish this year.

We were nearly unbeatable for most of the season.

am just sick of the refs deciding games this season.  The chiefs long pass at the end was even reviewed and they decided it was a catch by WR for chiefs when obviously no one had control of the ball going down head first on the ground.  A few NON holding calls were missed as well on key plays giving mostly the chiefs the game.

AS on said woulda been nice to see the lonely Lions win it all FINALLY!!!!

The MVP should go to ole' cheeseburger Andy Reid. He's the man.  cooldude

Well not a Chiefs fan but nobody is going to beat Andy Reid and as long as he has the smartest/most elusive QB that ever played. Bengals fan for life but ownership is cheap arse small market team and Joe hasn't too many seasons left w/o a better/healthy offensive line.
I can only hope Joe Burrow and company gets their chit to together, next year.  Roll Eyes

The Eagles ran over a lesser/younger team but to repeat this in the SB, its still a long shot for the Eagles. I think KC defense is to disciplined/solid talent from what I seen the last game and probably is going to control this game and Mahomes and company are going do what they do.

I just can't hate on this very special KC team as I never seen so much consistency in organized "sandlot play" team in my 53 yrs. I've watched the NFL but I can't hate on them like Tommy and Patriots. I could do that all day long.  Evil

As for the ref's, my BF said once, If you don't like being in "judgmental" sports where ref's are involved, don't play the game. There's always Pickle Ball.

corrupt team in bed with the Vegas bookies and NFL controlled Refs.
game after game kc wins due to a good/great ref call and lack of calls, they can hold most of the game and never get called for it that go their way. game against bills during KC punt runback bills player was clipped/blocked in back which allowed KC runner to get to 30 yd line, kc then goes in for go ahead TD. if penalty was called KC would have been back on the own 15.   this has been going on for the last four yrs.
even Reids heroin using drug dealing son was just pardon from prison, his other son died from doing the same thing yrs ago. "Maybe there are other people who get sentences commuted after nearly killing a little girl. I'd like to see those examples and compare them to Reid's. I'm guessing they don't exist because not everyone is the son of a Super Bowl coach under the protection of a terrible governor.

"The family is disgusted, I am disgusted, and I believe that the majority of the people in the state of Missouri are disgusted by the governor’s actions," said the lawyer for Ariel's family, Tom Porto. Have heard the Refs crap all season long, normally it by fans of teams that don't belong in the same stadium as the Chiefs.

The Bills/Chiefs game was a great matchup between the two best teams in the NFL in my opinion.   I don't believe the winner of that game would have been different even if the calls were all reversed.

The Chiefs were not happy about the NFL chosen Referee crew, that crew has repeatedly given the Chiefs fits when they referee a Chiefs game with whoever.   There's always going to be controversial calls, humans are involved.

Thinking I might start a thread for the Superbowl just so all those Chief haters can start bitching early about the calls or lack of calls.

Vegas is currently saying Chiefs by two points.   Since I don't bet, what Vegas gamblers think really doesn't matter to me.   But this I'm tempted to bet, regardless of who wins, there will be flags thrown and calls made that are gonna be bitched about.

No matter who wins, the Chiefs have built a dynasty.   While I will be cheering on the Chiefs and will be elated when they win, I still watch for the entertainment of the game.

I am a lifetime football fan, though college more than pros. (I played too in Jr hi, and HS)

I think the refs in general do a very good job.  Certain calls like holding are often close judgment calls; blatant holding is easy, but a small tug on the jersey is another thing, and when both guys (receiver & def back) are looking for the ball and fighting each other, I think no call is correct.

Some games are called closer and some aren't, and as long as it's the same for both teams, that's OK too.

When both teams start throwing punches, and both get unsportsmanlike (offsetting), I also think that's the right call.

I like how they often huddle up for discussion before a decision, and often use replay to get things right.  They do try to work quickly and not hold up the game (as they should), and that can be a game-changer when it's down to the wire on the clock.  Or allowing substitutions when otherwise they would not be allowed.

I also think many don't get that the call on the field predominates, and they need 'clear and unmistakable' to overturn it.  If there is no clear and unmistakable, the call on the field 'stands.'

Finally, I think the occasional no calls are more frustrating than calls that are close.  Sometimes they just don't see what the TV viewers see.

The job of reffing football is quite similar to lawyer work (only quicker), and some refs actually are lawyers.  An undergraduate degree is not a requirement, but most have them, and many played sports in college.

I'm not a big baseball fan.  It's a game to be played, not watched (puts me to sleep).  Umps calling balls and strikes on blazing pitches and wild curves make everyone unhappy. Grin  Kill 'da bum is heard way more often in baseball than football.

plenty of sites documenting same. didn't u see the clip on the bills player that was about to tackle the KC punt returner who broke loose down the field get field position some more questionable calls allowed KC score a TD. clear ref interference didn't call the clear clip.

""The Kansas City Chiefs have benefitted from a staggering amount of favorable calls in the playoffs throughout their recent run as the league's most dominant franchise, according to data guru Warren Sharp.

The Chiefs have never been penalized more than their opponents, having been flagged less than 10 times in their last 11 playoff games, while 10 of their opponents have been flagged at least 10 times, since 2021. Additionally, Kansas City was called for an average of 5.4 penalties per game during the 2024 NFL regular season, which was the fewest of all 32 teams.""

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/football/chiefs-referee-advantage-in-nfl-playoffs-revealed/ar-AA1xU3xc

""10 Times The NFL Was Exposed For Rigging Kansas City Chiefs Games""

https://www.totalprosports.com/nfl/10-times-the-kansas-city-chiefs-were-exposed-for-games-being-rigged/

""these Chiefs have received a helping hand from the NFL refs time and time and time again, to the point where it legitimately feels like these games are scripted like it’s the WWE.

With that said, let’s dive into 10 games involving the Kansas City Chiefs that looked totally rigged in their favor.
Are the Kansas City Chiefs truly favored by the NFL to win games?
2024 AFC Divisional Round vs. Houston Texans

How else could we start the list? Make no mistake, the Chiefs have been getting the calls for a while now. But the whole “refs favor the Chiefs thing” reached another level when they hosted the Houston Texans in the 2024 AFC Divisional Round.

For starters, allow us to present to you this atrocious “roughing the passer” call against Houston defensive end Will Anderson Jr. on Patrick Mahomes in the first quarter. Yes, the officials really did call that in a playoff game.""

""Oh, and you know how the league introduced a new rule to ban hip-drop tackles? Apparently, that doesn’t apply to the Chiefs, specifically Bryan Cook, when he delivered such a tackle on Texans tight end Dalton Schultz. Oh, and allow us not to forget the grand-daddy of them all: The absolute worst-of-the-worst calls to benefit the Kansas City Chiefs! Henry To’oTo’o is getting flagged for “unnecessary roughness” when he literally completed the cleanest of clean tackles on Mahomes.""

""Do you know how the officials usually “Let them play” and only call the most obvious of penalties when it’s REAL close in a big game? Well, that motto went out the window at the benefit of the Chiefs in Super Bowl 57 vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.

The showdown between Jalen Hurts’ Eagles and Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs was shaping up to be perhaps the greatest Super Bowl of them all. And yet, unless you’re a KC fan, you’re like the rest of us in that you only remember it ending on a pathetic officiating call.

The back-and-forth barn burner was tied 35 apiece with less than two minutes to go. Facing a pivotal 3rd-and-8 situation, the Chiefs just needed one more first down to melt the clock and set up a Harrison Butker game-winning field goal.

Mahomes’ pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster fell incomplete to seemingly set up fourth down and give Hurts plenty of time to play the hero. But Carl Cheffers’ crew flagged James Bradbery for a tacky defensive “holding’ call against Smith-Schuster. So KC got to drain most of the clock and set up Butker for the game-winning field goal.

Guarantee you that if it was any other team in that situation, the refs wouldn’t have called it.""

or,
andy and his drug dealing son might be main connections to High level NFL personal, like Biden and Hunter. lots of connections.

Well, I don't expect to change your mind.   But if you'll go look at penalties called on all the NFL Teams (with an open mind), you might see if differently.  The Chiefs were very close to the middle of the pack.

But, if you're happy hating on the Chiefs, that's fine by me.

BTW, the Bills QB had the most Roughing the Passer called on their opponents.  Josh Allen is pretty dang good at flopping with minor contact.  Mahomes wasn't even in the top 10 IIRC.

the bosses of the REfs are the Vegas bookies and NFL owners who are betting on all games.  officiating has been 1k worst ever since they started wearing headsets and referring to new york officals.

they wanted washington in the playoffs, didn't call penalty on late helmet hit on Hurts which put him out for two weeks and they hit pickett in the head while he was sliding, no roughing the passer call. if they did  eagles would have had a first down and washington would have lost.

Perhaps you are implying that the entire NFL management has conspired to favor the best manager/quarterback team in the NFL?

Your hate driven analysis is beyond stupid.  As Jeff has said, it is entertainment.  Please go back to whatever entertains you away from the Kansas City Chiefs.

BTW, the NFL likely loses money when the Chiefs go to the Superbowl as Kansas City is not a big money population.

Agreed on Super Bowl not being as profitable as previous SBs from fans attending.  Ticket prices are less than last year.  But, the price of commercials has gone up significantly.   I expect a lot of Chief haters to be watching and complaining about calls by the refs so, there will be a lot of haters watching.

We could just start complaining now about the SB refs.   Oh wait, it appears that's already started.   My Bad.  Wink

Edited:  Note to Admin. this might need to be moved to P&M.  Wink   I can see it getting rather exciting.  Cheesy

by no means do I hate the chiefs, just by my observation they have been favored enough by the refs calls or lack of calls to help them win a lot of games this season.  No skin in this superbowl since not many like the Eagles, so guess be nice to see the chiefs 3 peat making history...   I really wanted the Bills vs. Lions and surely thought that was going to happen this year, thought wrong as usual....

I'd agree with Carl about Chiefs fans not being as well endowed as some other teams, but they certainly are bullish on supporting their team. Even the wife and me (not big football fans, BTW) have been watching the playoff games. You can't help but hear about the Chiefs from all the TV stations.

In my neighborhood, you almost don't need to watch the game to know when the Chiefs scored or win the game - at the least there is fireworks going. There have been news stories about "don't shoot your firearms".

Of all the silly, aimed to be humorous flippant comments I've made over the years that went sideways, think I regret my first comment in this thread the most...

Oh well, back to my usual stance...

Well, the Chiefs DID hit more home runs than the other team, so I guess they deserved to win.   2funny

I guess my point was too subtle.

The prices for TV commercials are related to how many folks they are expected to be exposed to them.  In Superbowls and World Series the most lucrative markets, because of population sizes, are New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.  Kansas City may be the smallest population city to have NFL and MLB teams.

Keep in mind that for us it isn't life but is entertainment.  I am entertained.

Not at all too subtle.   But I would suggest that this particular SB will have huge numbers of viewers, most of which are hoping to see the Chiefs lose and wanting to gripe about a no call or excessive calls by the refs.   Just what my very foggy crystal ball is indicating.  Wink
