According to the post below, Ron lives in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. That's on the coast. According to a SC Wild Fire tracking site at the second link, fires close to the coast have been contained.

Thanks for thinking of me Cuz,
Fires were all around us. Two northwest and one about 10 miles directly south of us. The winds have been incredible over the last five days mostly coming from the west Northwest with gusts up to 70 mph. They calm down later in the day and then the smoke settles in. The smoke has been the worst of the situation. When you look out your windows you think it is fog out there. No residential homes have been lost to date.
The Southern one closest to us is contained and the big one north of us is 44% contained. I learned that the word contained does not mean that the fire is out, only that it would not spread any further. The trees within the containment are still burning and fueled by the winds. We got rain yesterday which only slightly affected the fires. Today winds are predicted to be in the low 20's.
My neighborhood was never in the line of fire because we were upwind of the close fire, but all of Northeastern SC is being affected by the smoke from all three fires. The forests are mostly Carolina Pines and man do they smell different than a campfire. For now, they are asking everyone to stay indoors because breathing that smoke is a health hazzard.
Sorry for the long reply.
