GIDDAY

I have the above bike ,bought brand new ,i have 20,000 carefree miles on it,,……

Yesterday the yellow engine light came on ,flashes approx 10 times goes out,then stays on …..bike will turn over but wont start ……after reading looking,etc etc …I beleive it has something to do with the ……

PGM-F1…..Programmed fuel injection………Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)….comes on ,yellow/orange in color and it shows the engine symbol…..

Does anyone have any info on this issue…fix’s,what to inspect etc etc …..this is the first and only issue Ive had with this bike……..many thanks in advance for reply’s…….cheers

   Old2soon has a shop manual on that bike. May be faster to do online search.  I have heard of the issue , but have only worked on a couple 1800's.   Sorry I could not be much more help.

Thanks…..was hoping to find out where or if there is a plug-in feature to where you can get the fault code or are HONDA the only ones that have the-euipment to pull that info…

I seem to remember hearing that disconnecting the battery will clear or reset that code.  If the code returns, it may be an ECM problem.  If I recall I had this issue on my 1800 wing, but my memory isn't what it used to be.  Check youtube for a video on the issue.

Thanks…theres a start ……1st thing i did was tube the issue….doesnt seem to be a lot of noise on this issue as it doesn’t come up very often …thanks for the suggestion …

Thanks for the reply’s……had HONDA  do a download /systems check ……turns out it’s a SENSOR that controls how and when the sequence of fuel and spark plug ignition is sequenced……a $450 part……

Unless you have the ability to download this info and get the code  you are at the mercy of HONDA……bottom line the bike is back on the road
