Good video in article.

“ Ram boss sorry for ‘woke’ pivot that killed gas-guzzling engine, brings back growling classic after backlash: ‘We got it wrong’”

Ram admitted it screwed up by killing a legacy American-made engine known for its raw power — and is revved up to bring it back after facing major backlash.

The automaker had discontinued the beloved HEMI V-8 engine from its 2025 Ram trucks as part of a “woke” pivot by the since-ousted CEO of parent company Stellantis Carlos Tavares,

But new Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, who came out of retirement last last year, offered up a mea culpa over the decision to pull the plug on the engine that powered the top-selling truck for decades.

Have a 2015 with the HEMI, do like it.  On the highway do get 22 or so mpg.  Yeah it uses gas but it does what a truck is supposed to do.

EXACTLY!  cooldude

Ya really don’t buy a truck with a big engine for the mpg. Just like our Valkyrie’s they’re not known for their superior fuel efficiency.

I’ve had several; not pickups, not Dodge.
The current one is an El Dorado Cadillac with Northstar engine.  Great car, great engine. Fast, lucky to get 26mpg HWY. Yes, it is a HEMI  cooldude

Good move on Dodges part.  cooldude

Friend bought a 75k Dodge Ram with the diesel and with all the smog stuff it was pitiful. He did some work

on it and its a beast now. Gets 19 mpg now and can spin the wheels no problem.

I did not know the Northstar was a HEMI. I remember hearing it was a powerful engine but never read any reviews on the car.

They really know how to choke off an engine of it full potential.

I’m not a big fan of guys who *roll coal* but it’s a shame to take a truck designed to work and take away from the power source just to meet ridiculous standards.

The Honda CB 450 was a hemi.  I raced in E modified and E altered classes.  12.56  quarter mile in 1972  was impressive

My 2020 Ram 3500 pulls just fine.  I AM, however, not happy about the governor at 100 mph.  Not that I want to do over 100 all of the time, but don't limit me when the truck is still pulling like a freight train!!!

all mfgs. are going WRONG way with twin turbo V6's or even turbo 4 cylinders in 1/2 ton trucks.  Makes NO sense to me besides a few more mpg for govt. standards.

Glad Dodge did the right thing bringing back the 5.7L V8

Sure wish Toyota would consider it as well since imo the 5.7L V8 even with only a 6 speed tranny but with the BIGGEST BADDEST 4.30 rear axle ratio is one of the top 10 most reliable engine/tranny combos in all of truck history.  The prior 4.7L V8 toyota tundra in years 2009 range and older was probably long term more reliable but needed a timing belt replaced around 100-120K miles vs. the 2007 on up 5.7L V8 has a no nonsense leave alone timing chain.

Toyota's new 3.4L twin turbo V6 is garbage as well as the tranny and all new TECHY interior is WAY overpriced now not affordable 50K on up new.
