'Like to take a second to recognize some pretty amazing generosity displayed by a member here

I was looking for brake light etc to super valk an IS that I just purchased - an individual who has never met/heard of me before in his life GAVE me not only a very cherry brake light but an oem brake light harness (NIB) that he had purchased to super valk his own bike (he changed his mind) - his reasoning was simply "just paying it forward"

it gets better

as he does not do Paypal, he also ate the $20 postal cost to get the parts to me!

Now I too believe in paying it forward but certainly never been on the receiving end of such a gracious gift from a complete stranger

DragonRdr - you are a gentleman sir, and I salute your kindness - more of this would make our present world a so much better place - Rubber side down and I wish you many more happy miles on yer Dragon  coolsmiley

I've been giving all kinds of things away I will never use (in my advancing years).

I just sent my niece a hand made 18Kt gold Turkish curb bracelet (like 26 ounces).

I told her it may be a bit heavy and masculine for her to wear, so sell it if you want to.

I wear no jewelry, not even a watch unless I actually need one.

I didn't give her the 22Kt coiled cobra ring with ruby eyes.

The Turks don't believe in 14Kt gold, except for tourists.

Paying it forward has benefits, I just developed a new friendship with someone because I put some maintenance manuals, key chain and an old mouse pad up on a Pontiac Fiero Forum for sale.   Initially, I simply said Available for Someone who drives a Fiero.   Make me an offer.

I no longer have any Fieros and while moving "stuff" from our garage into my new shop, ran across this stuff.   Obviously, I don't need any of this.

A few people contacted me with some "lowball" offers but one guy sent me a private message telling me all about his Fiero and what he was trying to accomplish and asking me what my offers were cause he could really use the manual but wasn't sure he could afford it.  IIRC, the manual was around $50 or $60 when I originally bought it.   Obviously, I no longer had a use for it.

It was such a nice letter that I told him he could have the manual and other stuff if he'd simply pay for mailing it.    Today, I got a check for $6.13, the cost of sending it to him.   What he didn't know was, I mailed the items the same day we had our discussion.   The package should arrive in Monday's mail to him.

I did learn something though, I didn't know USPS has a book rate for mailings, the clerk simply asked to see the book, I complied by showing it to her and she dropped the price some.
