We, my DW and I, gotten several text messages from the OR DMV.   Well written text that says we are going to be loosing our ability to drive our vehicles in so many words.   It stems from us not paying traffic fines.   Has a lot of verbiage from the actual website sighting codes.  We would have only one day to go to their site and pay the fines.

BUT they make 3 mistakes.  One, is that they fail to identify us by names, that is a dead give away.  Second, DMV doesn't have our phone numbers in the system.  Third, the OR DMV wouldn't outsource this message to Turkey.  That was the national code on the text.

Kind of funny when you think about.

I've received several texts over the years saying I owe for crossing a toll bridge in Louisville.   I used to use this toll bridge frequently and would always pay the bills when they came in the mail.  They take a picture of your tag as you cross onto the bridge.  But then I started getting texts saying I used the bridge when I was in Mississippi and hadn't crossed that bridge in over a year.   Yep, a scam that didn't work.  Edited:  Learned that if you drive a pickup and leave the tailgate down, the camera won't get the picture.   Not that I ever did that intentionally.

Lately, I've been receiving texts and emails from (supposedly) Tractor Supply (using TS's logo) telling me I need to follow a link because I've won a Predator 3500 KW generator.   This has been going on for over a month.   I never clicked on the link but, did call Tractor Supply Corporate and ask if this was a scam.
The customer service lady I spoke with told me that they had received several calls and complaints but, it wasn't from them and they weren't giving away any generators.

This kind of thing is why I seldom click on links even on this forum.   Ya just never know.............

Kentucky Toll had an issue with hacking recently as we were "contacted" 2x when we went AL last fall. Wouldn't be surprised its a scam. Our DMV sends documents thru the mail and/or Email reminder regarding anything important especially tag renewal.  Smiley Never a text message.

DW and I have received 3 of these DMV text over the last two months.  All saying we had only one day to get it cleared up.  I did enjoy them as they were very well written and look official.  Not like the other spam text letting me know that I could get a "pay day Loan" or that I was approved for $50K loan.

Just thought I would share what we are getting out here.

I know it feels good to reply like this but I wouldn't... they don't care and aren't scared, and ANY reply just lets them verify that there's a live person at that number, getting you even more texts...

In the legit sense, I went through several "We'll send you a bill" toll boots on my extended IZ trip. Still waiting to see if Canada or New York try to track down my Texas plates...

I get the same messages every so often.  I ignore them.  Sometimes I might even block them.  But then they know the number is active.

Now, if I were to get a letter I might consider checking it out.

Same. Threats from the department of transportation to pay unpaid tolls or else. Two years ago I drove to New Jersey and back. Yes I went through some tolls. They sent a bill in the mail identifying my vehicle. I paid them immediately

Like you said this latest threat did not identify me or any vehicle nor a date the supposed toll was incurred. It did sound legitimate other than that though. Be careful out there.

I had a friend that did get a 75¢ bill from Canada. They went back and forth,by mail, with the stamps alone far exceeding the 75¢. He finally sent them a check for the 75¢ and their response was it was 75¢ Canadian. He eventually got it paid to their satisfaction. Don't think he's been back since.

I guess they could black ball you at the border or something like that if you don't pay. If you try to go to Canada in the near future, Trump's policies with Canada could foreseeably get you an arrest.   Wink  Or are the Canadian too nice for that?

I have experianced some times when I went through a toll that took our car plates and the jurisdiction (State of Va) did eventually send it to us in the mail. That was before we had gotten an EZ PAss that's good for alot of the tolls out east.
