Ottis was the only one that was married. Everybody else was single and very happy.

As much as I liked Andy Griffith, I could never watch that show because I hated Barney Fife (there is no humor in a complete idiot).

Emmitt the Fix it Shop owner was married.

the fact is really about the original cast.  Emmitt didn't show up until the last season and only for 16 episodes, the wife only 3 episodes.

You sound like a TAGS fan! My brother and I have watched every episode so many times that we can quote countless lines. And many agree that the show lost much of its humor after Barney left in 1965. Coincidentally, that was the same year they changed from black and white to color, so it's easy to spot the good, old shows.

Not only was Otis married, but he was the town drunk, and the only regular that drank at all. Is there a connection?

Barney got soused when Otis spiked the water barrel!
