“ Billy Joel to close Long Island motorcycle shop, auction off collection due to brain disorder diagnosis”

Earlier this week, Joel's representative Claire Mercuri told The Associated Press that the music icon will be shuttering 20th Century Cycles in Oyster Bay in late September and selling his collection at auction later this year due to his medical issue.

A date for the auction of his collection has not been set.

Interesting.   Always liked Mr. Joel's professional work.   Didn't know he collected motorcycles.  I wonder if he had a Valkyrie or two in that collection.  Not that I could afford it.   Need to ensure John Smith sees this.  Wink

I looked through the photos on his website but didn’t see any Valks, but I thought at one time or another he said he had a Rune and an original version Valkyrie. I could be mixing his collection up with Jay Leno though.

I must admit I miss the north shore of Long Island that was my hunting ground for many years. Billy Joel

was always one of my favorites.

BIlly Joel has always been among my favorites as well. While we were in DC, we went to a concert over in Maryland. Our seats were behind the stage - but it didn't matter - Billy showed our section as much love as those in front of the stage !!!

Piano Man - also love the Youtube clip with him and Elton John playing this together on the late Show with Jay Leno (1995 ? ) among the best piano players in the pop universe, together.

and so many others... I have most of his albums.

we saw his concert at MSG a bunch of years ago

He would give the audience a choice of 2 songs over and over based on the applause

A whole lot of fun

Piano Man came out when I was a freshman in college late fall of 1973

and he did have at least one Valkyrie

I remember watching him being interviewed at his shop several years ago where he had a Red and Black Interstate in his collection but it seems to be gone now.

Wow! Moto Guzzi is strongly represented   cooldude   His 850 ElDorado is identical to mine,
But shinier. Mine is punched out to 1000, has leather bags instead of briefcases.
Love the transverse mounted vee shaft drive torque monster!!! Better design, less mechanical loss. Shaft has straight shot from engine to wheel.  cooldude
