Noticed when I returned from my ride that the left side cover was gone   tickedoff

I took the car and retraced all 75 miles but could not see it anywhere

I had ridden across the Hudson to mom's house as I had someone interested in the house

Damn those potholes and the fact that I could not feel the cover falling off the bike

Perhaps they are not unobtanium and one will show up on ebay at a reasonable price
The tabs were broken on both sides of the bike from when the alternator was last replaced
and it is my fault I did not check the snugness of the cover before my ride

If you find one, there’s an online paint matching company I’ve used a couple times that does a great job at color matching and can make up rattle can of paint for you and get a can of the clear coat as well to finish it off.

I’m not affiliated with them other than a repeat customer.

Their website doesn't list anything for motorcycles so I’d send an email asking but I would think a paint code is a paint code.

While coupling my (new to me) sidecar to my Valkyrie, I detached my right side cover for access to a mounting boss.   Didn't help much so I slapped it back on but apparently didn't get it secured.

A few days later while riding that Valkyrie, I felt something hit my leg and saw that side cover dropping to the pavement.   Pulled off the road at the nearest safe spot I could find and started walking back toward it.   Found it laying in the middle of the road between a cage's tire tracks with traffic passing over it.

Got there before it got smashed luckily but, it's now all scratched up from it's solo ride down the pavement.   Some lessons cost more than others.   Thankfully, it's mounted back and secure.   After speaking to a paint shop, it's probably cheaper to replace that repaint.

BLACK

Oss, I have 2 different black left side covers with tabs. Each has some scuffs but are usable. I will sell you the best one for $160 shipped. Can send pics if interested. I can set up a pay link through my web site where you can use a credit card.

On a note about the paint, don't know for sure but my 06' Spirit was water based as the clear coat didn't like the magnetic "paws" on my JRocket Manta tank bag but didn't effect the 00' Kaw ZR7 solvent paint. It does make difference in matching colors. Our local mixers pizzed around for 10 days and finally realized it needed to be solvent based for my 99' Silver Pearl.
