1214 - Home - Carl is doing great - in good spirits and on  the mend. We had a good long chat about life in general. Lori didn't show up.

Sorry, just saw that he got out of the horse pistol last week.  Still praying for you and Lori.  I pray that the procedure goes without negative events.

As posted, I have been out of the medical prison for a little over a week now.  While in they did a heart cath and inserted a stent.  The stent was to undo an almost trivial blockage because the head heart doctor felt that the ablation might mask its getting worse.

The experts wanted a four week healing process before the ablation so the ablation has been scheduled for 01 October.  I have been placed on some strong medication to keep my heart rate from going excessively high and to mitigate the chances of a stroke.  I'm doing well.  The medication has allowed my behavior to be as near normal and as evil as it has ever been.

They did advise me not to ride as my blood is so thin that any laceration could result in a very, very serious unstoppable bleed.  I view all advice to be optional.  It feels good to be in the wind and the termination of my life in this world is in the Lord's hands rather than my precautions.

As a non-medical professional I'd suggest you not even look at pictures of Valkyries for the time being.

(And whatever you do, do NOT read or watch current news events!)

Carl. That’s exactly what I told my oncologist when she said my platelets were too low to ride. Same concern as you now, bleeding. I told her God knows when I will go and God is bigger than CLL. Just be reasonable, if you feel funny don’t chance it

I highly recommend Valkyrie therapy! The 99 Valkyrie in my avatar was purchased new by me 3 months after my heart bypass surgery. About 2 months before my surgery I had convinced a buddy (best friend) who was hot to buy a motorcycle to buy a Valkyrie. He did and 6 weeks after my surgery he was crazy enough to let me take his out for a spin, and at that time I had not been on a motorcycle about 20 years!

Like you Carl, I had totally put my mind at rest having the Lord in control of my surgery, my recovery and the rest of my life going forward. The biggest difference in our situations is I was only 47 at the time.

Perhaps our situations were not as different as you thought.  I was 74.  Maybe we're mirror images.   Wink

Interestingly, a couple of the nurses who served me in the hospital commented that I didn't seem as worried (anxious?) as some in my place.

I guess my life is a little unusual.  There was a time when irony struck me.  My nurse, a young (everyone is young to me) female was shaving my private parts to apply an "external catheter" and were were carrying on a discussion of Scripture and our spiritual lives.   Huh?

cooldude Nothing beats riding again after surgery or injuries.
It always gives   one  the  freedom and  time  withself . That is what keeps us sane and balanced.

I seem to recall what RJ did after his event

A ride on MGM thru all of the country after visiting all the county capitals in Iowa

Am I correct on that?
