I've ridden all my life but have never had a cover for a bike. I guess I just never loved any bike as much as I do my Valkyrie! I'd love to hear about the pros and cons of covers like brands, material, coverage, fit, linings, vents, grommets, elastic and whatever else is important to look for or avoid. If it's a PIA to get on and off I'll likely not use it. If it scratches my windshield or paint I definitely won't!

My Valk is an I/S. I purchased a HDL cover for a 2k plus goldwing and it fits well on the Interstate. No problems on or off, has the liner for the windshield and heat sheild for the exhaust. Good luck and ride safely.

How do you deal with the antenna? Or in my case antennas. In this case is a lightweight half-cover the way to go to keep it inside the antennas? I'd like to cover the whole bike if I can figure out how to do it.

The antennas will fold down. Grab the ferruled part of the antenna and give it a twist. It should loosen and allow you to fold it down. If the antenna comes off, then you need to hold the bottom part of the base to hold it still. Joe

Big Mike from "valkyrieblingandmore.com" sells the Bike Barn. The best portable bike protection you can buy and it will not scratch your bike.

8 years ago whenever I first got my Valkyrie I too needed a cover. I talked to a few friends and it seemed most liked the DOWCO covers so I bought one. It was the Guardian full size tourer. IT fit well, had the heat shields and windshiled protection was vented and had gromets and straps for securing under the bike and even locking it if you want. OK, so after 5 or 6 years of light use it stopped being waterproof. Can you believe that 5-6 years and it was leaking and leaving white powder on the bike. I called DOWCO and they said, "send us that cover we need to take a look"......a week later their latest version of the Guardian arrived at my house FREE........no questions asked and its still like new 3 years later........I use it twice a year when we are at Daytona. I like the DOWCO cover just fine......never had anything else to compare to so there could be better ones out there, but I doubt there are better companies to deal with....Just my .02

I bought my cover off of ebay and it did not have provisions for the antennas. I measured where they should be and cut holes for them. I then went to the hardware store and bought "rubber" type washers that would fit over the antennas (bigger ones for the CB and superglued them on each side of the holes that I cut and it has worked perfectly. If you would like I can take a picture of the final version, just let me know. Clint

I have a 98 Tourer. I have a Dowco for 10 yrs with no problems. Its used inside the garage. Its light weight. I use a half cover for trips. Rolls up super small. I do have a 100% waterproof cover that I use/will use on trips when I pull trailer. Space is no concern with the trailer. Now that I have the batwing I need another half cover. Probally use a wing or glide cover. I prefer a half cover over a full due to the fact its easier to fasten to the bike. Never had my half cover blow off but have with a full cover. Plus if it does get wet its easier to dry out the cover and the bike due to the air flow. It wont hold in the moisture.

I appreciate all the comments and wisdom. Dowco covers look good. The zippered version looks like it's easy to put on and will protect and hide all the goodies when parked overnight in motel parking lots. The 1/2 cover also looks easy to use, will keep the seat and electronics dry, and you just gotta' love the cost. I tried folding the antennas. I didn't know they did that - after all these years!

the best cover I have ever had. has lasted longer than any other due to that I cover the bike everyday when at work. The darker colors even last longer than lighter colors per some reports on covers I have read. http://www.nelsonrigg.com/store/ "its not just a bike"
