Today is a red-letter day. My wife and I went shopping, came home with a few things and one brown paper bag for some meds. The reason for marking this day: she didn't keep the brown paper bag. She has saved enough of various types and sizes to open her own grocery supermarket. When I asked if she wanted to keep it, she said no! What??? I grabbed my chest, closed my eyes and said "honey, this is it, this is the big one" (in honor of Redd Fox if you recall). My breathing has finally slowed down, my pulse is back to normal, I think I'll rest for a while...in case she changes her mind.

I know some of you will think this is a big joke...it's not. Not much of a stretch either.  Cheesy

Redd:
This made me lol out loud!
Maybe I hit’s home a little.
Caint stand those plastic ones, they don’t hold & don’t decompose.
Those nice paper ones are getting rarer but paper should totally replace plastic!

I'm not a nut about it, but I always have a full supply of brown paper grocery bags.

There are a dozen uses for them, including wrapping paper.  Once I have 20 or so, I stop collecting them.

No paper bags to had in my area! But we keep the plastic ones! They make cheap (free) trash can liners for the numerous small cans scattered around the house.

We use them for Xmas gifts wrap for our White Elephant. Occasional carrying large items from the store.

Friends of mine moved from W VA and she didn't know what a "poke" was when they 1st. got there from IL.  Grin

Awe Yes, the paper bag issue.   No problem here, I don't know of a store we go to that uses them but, "We" have a different issue.   Corrugated boxes (some folks call them cardboard).   We get a huge number of packages delivered, rarely are they for me (although most do add to my Honey Do List).

We get so many that I normally build a pile around an old tree stump and light a fire about twice a month.   If, I placed those same boxes (broken down) into our trash receptacle, it would overflow every time which would mean a lot more trips to the County Landfill.   No, we don't use curbside pickup.

luckily our town still allows burning barrels.  We burn a lot of stuff once per week.

We use those brown paper bags to put burning barrel ashes in to run them down to the towns recycling center.  We also have way way too many plastic grocery bags plumb full in basement in a black big trash bag full.   that is a ton of small plastic bags worth.

The cheap, flimsy, plastic bags make great bags for scooping cat litter (always double them up - don't want to make a mess if one fails).

Besides the always good small can trash liners-I keep a lot of the plastic bags to use for packing material in boxes when I ship stuff or box breakables.
