Last Summer I noticed a mess at the base of my right rear shock. It was pretty thick and I thought it was due to bead sealer I had slopped at the rear bead seal to solve a slow tire leak. I really couldn't believe the shock had blown after a year and about 7,000 miles. The bike performance was still good. The reason I know for sure the shock was toast last Summer is the rebound damping adjuster stopped clicking - so according to my supplier the pressure needed to create the clicks was gone due to the bad seal. Amazingly with one bad shock I was able to ride with a 350 lb trailer behind the bike for 600 miles and later ride for 400 miles with my wife on the back, all on tight mountian roads. The bike handled flawlessly - I don't have a clue how.

The suspension shop indicated the repair would be covered under warranty and all I would need to pay is delivery to their shop. They also said that premature seal failure is very rare but it does happen even with their most expensive shocks. I also searched on YSS seal failures and found lots of horror stories. Anyway I just figured I'd put this out there as good shock options appear to be somewhat limited for these bikes.

So I did a search on 'blown seals' and most are well over 10yrs old.

Additionally, really need more information... blown seals are usually indicative of overloading.
The max on these bikes is right around 400# so....¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Are you using the eco or the z-series? It’s only the “G” for our bikes that has the piggyback reservoir, correct? And B I don’t see that one listed anyway.

Mine are the RZ362 Twin Emulsion. So no piggy back, just preload, adjustable rebound damping and height adjustment. I suspect the shocks have 7,000 miles on them about 5,000 1 up and about 2,000 near but below the design load of the bike. The suspension shop doing the warranty work just got them today. They just think it's early seal failure - "not typical, but it happens". I checked through an independant authority that I trust. He said their response seemed reasonable based on his experience.
