Well  my wife's GA Bulldogs opened up a can of Whip-ass against the team that beat them earlier in the season. Dawgs win 28-7 over Alabama. I think GA will be in the Championship game when it all comes down to the final. Just not sure who against --  Huh? some really good teams out there.  coolsmiley

Alabama has had some very lucky wins this season. I personally don't think they should be in the `12 team championship playoffs.

Well, I'm a Big Ten guy not an SEC guy.

But I was pulling for Georgia over Alabama because Alabama has won it all so many times.

Georgia looked like they could beat anybody yesterday.

I was pulling for Indiana over Ohio State because Ohio State is the perpetual foe of my Michigan Wolverines, and I pull for underdogs and Indiana has been an underdog forever.  And damn if they they didn't beat the #1 Buckeyes.

It's also pretty clear that the top teams in college football (and the pros too) are so evenly matched that if the same teams played each other multiple times during a season, either team might win depending on the breaks of the game (fumbles, interceptions, special teams, penalties, and luck).

The old saying that offense wins games but defense wins championships is true.  Georgia's defense beat Alabama and Indiana's defense beat Ohio State.

The CFP playoff schedule will be announced today, and Indiana, Ohio State and Georgia will be in it, and there could easily end up being another Indiana-Ohio State game and it could go either way, depending on the breaks.  But Georgia could win it all.    Smiley

I love football (played in Jr Hi and HS), and am sorry when the season is over because I hate basketball.

I also find women's volleyball fun to watch, not because volleyball is a great sport, but because so many of those amazon women are beautiful, and they wear tight shorts (and there's a lot of butt patting going on after every single play).  It's uplifting for this old man.   Grin

I was glad to see Georgia win myself. I don't think Alabama has the team their rankings say they do. Their quarterback always seems to have that deer in the headlights look.

I was also really happy to see "that team down south" (Ohio) lose.

Ron, after several days and no response to my post, I thought maybe I was overstepping by posting on your Florida Board.  Or maybe my comments on women's volleyball were not appreciated.  Grin

I only do it once in a while.

Ohio State lost one game last year, and was still national champs.

I'm pulling for Indiana all the way.

Speaking of college football, Sherrone Moore  the Michigan Wolverines coach was fired today for an inappropriate relationship with a staffer.  Consenting adults, but not his wife (with kids).

It was also reported the journalist who made this public waited until the worst moment possible to do so (right before the final bowl game).

He was later detained for questioning by the Saline PD (not reported as an arrest), but no other news on that at all.

No over stepping around here!

A friend from work was a die hard Michigan fan before moving to Florida. He had season tickets and didn't miss a home game for over 12 years! I can't imagine the temps at some of those games. He went to numerous bowl games even after moving to Florida. Not sure who they're playing (Texas?) in the Citrus bowl here in Orlando. Girl friend's from Detroit area. She said Michigan felt sorry about beating Ohio 4 times in a row and went easy on them this year. I just smiled and nodded my head.

I quit watching pro football years ago. The celebrating, kneeling and National Anthem thing was the final straw. Pretty close to losing me on college football too.

cooldude Ok, moving on.... No college football fans here? I sill watch as I was hoping Ol' Miss was going to beat Miami but what a great game. I then watched the Oregon Duck get kicked all over the place by Indiana Hoosiers. So there Nat'l Championship game has been decided. The way Indiana is playing I don't think they will disappoint. I have no dog in the fight but I'm pulling for Indiana. I think they will win by a score of 48 - 28.  cheers

Indiana and their Heisman trophy quarterback looks unbeatable.  But upstart Miami is a damn good team who barely made into the CFP and has beat all opponents.  It's all the more great that Indiana only has 6 portal transfer players when every other CFP team has like 40.  GO INDIANA!

I'm a lifelong college football and Michigan Wolverine fan and always pull for the Big Ten.  I started at tailback in I formation triple option football in Jr/Sr Hi (and ran back all kickoffs and punts) (we only threw the ball 6-10 times a game).

I don't really follow pro football except for my Detroit Lions.

I didn't mind when Penn State was let into the Big 10, but hated it when Rutgers, MD, and especially when historical Pac 10 foes UCLA, Southern Cal, Washington and Oregon were let in.  I don't pull for them.  Of course all that was about money, but what math major calls an 18 team conference the Big 10????

It's kind of a pity that college football has become a paid occupation with the transfer portal.  And it really irritates me when top college players opt out of post season bowl games to avoid injury for their upcoming pro football careers.  Again, it's all about (big) money, and I suppose it was inevitable.

While we're on the subject, what's up with the short pants (and bare knees) in Pro and College football?  When I played, I got the sh!t kicked out of me being tackled all game long and was glad to have knee, thigh and hip pads.  Our little schools had crummy equipment, and my first year in Jr Hi I had to play in some ginormous lineman's shoulder pads that were way too big for me.   Grin

The "sitting out" of bowl games is really a bad thing for the bowl game. It means the team that played their way to the bowl game isn't the team playing in the bowl game. It hurts the quality of the Bowl game and quite often the outcome of the game. A few years ago, FSU and Georgia weren't in the playoffs for a couple reasons but both were invited to a bowl game. A bunch of the FSU players got their panties in a wad and opted out of the Bowl game. Georgia came to play and embarrassed them by winning by about 60 points and proving FSU had no right to be in the play offs.Yeah, people knew part of the reason Georgia killed them but a few years later no one will remember all the players setting out the game. Just that Georgia laid a major beat down on FSU.
