This is a horrible story.

Greg Biffle, his wife, son and daughter along with a member of Michael Waltrip Racing and the pilot died in a terrible plane crash today at Statesville Regional Airport, NC.

What’s being reported is after takeoff the plane could could not gain altitude. They attempted to return to the airport but crashed. Also being reported is people on a local golf course saw the plane and debris was falling out of the sky.

Some video shows where the plane crashed outside the airport fence and skidded further into the airport.

Greg was a good racer. I didn’t knkw too much of his private life other than the great amount of assistance he gave last year for folks in NC by flying his helicopter into hard to reach areas.

Truly a sad sad story.

Yeah, the Biff was a good guy. Terrible to think about the final thoughts of his poor children and wife. What an awful tragedy.

 Undecided Undecided Undecided

I use to watch and follow NASCAR quite a bit and Greg was a good driver and certainly helped put Jack Roush on the map in that series.

I can remember reading and watching video in the days after hurricane Helene, his commitment to help people in the area by flying his helicopter into the hard to reach areas with supplies.

This is from the NY Post;

“ Heartbreaking details reported by People suggested that Cristina knew something was wrong during the ill-fated flight. She texted her mom, Cathy Grossu, “We’re in trouble” just before the crash. ”

“ “She texted me from the plane and she said, ‘We’re in trouble.’ And that was it,” Grossu told the outlet after Greg, Cristina, 14-year-old daughter Emma and 5-year-old son Ryder all died in the crash.”

Sad, just sad.  The Biffle family were good people and gave much.

Here’s a little article of how Greg helped in the days following hurricane Helene

“ A Year Before His Tragic Death, NASCAR's Greg Biffle Saved Lives in Flood-Ravaged North Carolina”

Piloting his private helicopter, Biffle flew among cut-off communities, ferrying supplies and even Starlink internet service to hard-hit areas.

“ For 2 weeks straight, Greg flew his own personal helicopter every single day to rescue victims who were stranded in the mountains.”

I did not know of Greg Biffle but, from what I have seen and heard, he was a true human and loved his family and our country.

Rest in Peace Greg (and family).  We have the Watch.
