Sometimes ya just gotta go...

Winter Springs, FL - Occasionally...

Holidays And Associated Payments...

Oh yeah, that was familiar! Banking turns, twisting the throttle, feeling one's lower back press against the backrest, viewing the world through and/or just above a windscreen! Nope, there is simply nothing else like it! No revelation to anyone who might be reading this, but it is sure to induce some head-nods amongst most members of that unique, elite group...

The ride down to my BIL's place (Hot Tub Johnny) had been a perfect prelude to all that would follow... The weather had been spectacular including clear skies, slightly cool temps, mild breezes, and mostly light traffic. Florida weather is hard to beat in wintertime! Anybody who didn't see that as near perfect is just too darned hard to please! The conditions on the ride from HTJ's to my daughter's place would be a carbon copy...

Much of my time in recent weeks had been spent hunkering down with most of that lost in reflection. No slump or anything depressing, just a sense of malaise and lack of enthusiasm due entirely to inactivity... A need for attention to our 'special' therapy was clearly indicated!

Whenever I retreat from regular wandering, I usually find myself in that condition, but... It's so doggone sneaky! It stealthily creeps over me unnoticed and leaves me uninspired and unenergetic without me realizing why... The cure is obvious once the condition is recognized, of course, but that isn't always apparent at a conscious level early on...

Ah, but when the wind pushes on our faces and we squint a bit at the low-level early-morning sun straight ahead, our entire being undergoes a wonderful transformation, and life itself becomes so much more enjoyable. Why didn't I feel that way half an hour before KSU? Right!

The miles passed quickly as the now very familiar landmarks appeared and then vanished in the mirrors... Soon enough I would be in the company of family and friends paying my dues for membership in such a worthwhile assembly. It is an annual ritual made willingly, but it is also a sacrifice of a sort...

The total freedom and randomness of my chosen lifestyle must be suspended briefly... It is a concession to 'relationship maintenance' and normalcy that I only grudgingly make a very few times each year... Made tolerable by the certainty of a speedy return as soon as respectfully and politely the toll has been sufficiently tendered and 'a graceful exit’ will allow...

DDT (12),

I fully agree with your comments above.  My riding times has been "reduced" after my 2025 spring flings. (which I enjoyed).

Part of my issues were just limited to "having been there before and did not really need to go back".

However, I might just take a trip to Memphis again since Trump has cleaned it (crime wise).  My first trip there was great.

Thanks for your thoughts.  Enjoy life.

Good to read of you again, my friend. Great weather here so far this year, so I am getting regular doses of therapy.

I could sure use a week or so of southern Florida sunshine! Someone (O2S) mentioned cobwebs, I feel like I’m gathering some cobwebs in my head about now! If not for needing to keep a very regular visit to my Mothers, I’d be very tempted to bug out real soon. My wife is a very important component of my visits and she doesn’t ride with me anymore but when the weather improves here, we may have to start taking two vehicles to Grannies house!

Check in often Bruce, your updates keep us on an even keel, well most of the time anyway.
