I have had a tire on my F150 with a slow leak for several months. It might 2-3 weeks to lose 10# or a couple of times it lost 20# over night....Making me crazy. I did the soapy water a couple of times with no results. On the overnight loss, my son wondered if the truck had been parked with the leak in touch with the ground and just right to leak more.  Sure enough, a very close inspection of that revealed a tiny nail about .020 in diameter and when pushed a bit sideways would leak. Since the hole was so small, getting a plug into it would be a chore, so I decided to put a wood screw into the hole instead. I picked a small screw that is commonly used in door hinges, kinda fat but  only about 3/4 inch long. Carefully zipped it in with a drill and just slightly buried the head.....soapy water and it didn't leak.  Its got about 500 miles and has lost no air.  Went surfing the web to see if I had a marketable bright idea and discover the SCREW PLUG has already been invented, You can buy a pack of 40 for 5-10 bucks from Walmart!!!
Who woulda thought..... I will sooner or later replace my screw with a plug.....but, it was a novel idea. crazy2

This is a funny story.   Grin

I've also used a bit larger screw to stop a leak..... for a few days until I got it fixed or a new tire.   Smiley

What ever works  cooldude
I found a tiny finishing nail causing a super slow leak in one of my truck tires. I just used a tiny drill bit and enlarged the hole a bit. Installed a string plug and good to go. That was 25,000 miles ago.
