He was one of my all time favorite actors.  Mostly not a "lead" but a character actor.

Remember Boo Radley in To Kill A Mockingbird?  (spooky)   Grin

It wasn't until the elder spawn joined 1st Cav and I started researching that scene some more that I realized the 1st Cav, and specifically Lieutenant Colonel Bill Kilgore were meant to be the bad guys in that movie...

He had a heck of a career.

He was the taxi driver in Bullitt. Lonesome Dove and Open Range were excellent. Tom Higgins in The Godfather. I swear I saw him in some old time tv shows but can’t remember which ones.

Can’t think of a role where he disappoints the audience.

Great actor, can't think of anything he did poorly.

He had your attention when ever he was on the screen.

He often used that aloof, standback presence that was addictive.

And he didn't seem to use his craft and join idiots in spouting political BS.

Yeah, he played Lucky Ned Pepper. He was in that scene where The Duke went riding in flipping his Winchester and was also a bad guy in Clint Eastwood’s Joe Kidd.

Interesting.   I guess perspective is important.  I never considered that character as being the “Bad Guy”.
He did play some very good character roles.

Hmmm.  I was 10 when that movie came out and we weren't really "movie goers" back then.  I had never heard of that THX1138 movie, but will be streaming it soon.  Smiley

There’s a line from that long beach scene that always made me laugh and it was about either fighting or surfing and Duval says to one guy, “you’re from New Jersey, what do you know about surfing”. While we do have surfers here in NJ, our coastline doesn’t provide the waves like other places popular for surfing.
