DST put s US. time zones out of sync with the rest of the world. And it misaligns our human body clocks with morning sunlight, thereby disrupting circadian rhythms and causing the spikes in heart attacks, strokes, depression and other health problems observed in the days following the one-hour spring and fall time shifts.

Changing clocks twice every year is disruptive and costly. On-the-job productivity sinks until employees adjust physiologically to springing forward and falling back.

Ok, here is my question.  But first, the reason for Daylight Savings Time in the first place.

I thought I knew but my search returned this reason:  "Daylight saving time started as a way to conserve energy during World War I by making better use of daylight. "  (I thought it was to help the farmers).

I guess the energy conservation was done because people were not as busy after dark with DST as they were after work on Standard Time.

But today, we (well lots of folks) have flexible work hours, meaning you can conserve energy by changing your working Horus.

Today, we have work at home jobs that allow you to not have to travel, which is one of the main benefits of DST (they claim).

My point is this.   Changing what time it is when the sun is directly overhead only does that, changes the time.  It does not affect the location of the sun.

Some say that with DST they have more daylight after work.  Again, change the working hours and that is not an issue.

No, I am not a fan of having Daylight Savings Time.  It requires a change in my habits two times a year.  That change can fuel mistakes and can make life more dangerous.  Just because of the changes you have to make (not all of us but some of us) to your life style, just to mention one thing.

For me, when the sun is directly over head it's "High Noon" not 1:00 PM.  (and yes I know that does depend on where you live to some degree).

Just me.

During my working life, it pissed me off.

In retirement, I don't care what time it is (and the weather is the controlling factor).

I rarely ever wear a watch, and just yesterday took 5 of them in for new batteries (all dead).

I do wear one riding to help me try to avoid quitting time traffic (that's about it).

Digital Devices are easy!
Place Three inches of black electrical tape on the face.
Remove tape in 9 months, time is magically “correct”.

Here is my "bet".

President Trump will end Day Light Savings Time in November of 2026.  In other words, you will not have to set your clocks back.  The current time (under Daylight Savings Time) will stay the real time for the future.

I am not a fan of this idea but, I am really not a fan of changing the time on my clocks (and my body clock) twice a year.

We have seven (7) months to find out.

That would be my choice as well.  But every time I bring it up in casual conversation the person says something like, "I like it staying light longer in the evening".  To which I generally just shake my head.

Well, I got up this morning and reset all my clocks (most electric digital), and 5 minutes later they cut our power off briefly (again for the 10th time in a month), so I had to go around and do them all again.   tickedoff

THis is one reason most of mine are either battery powered or can get their time by themselves.

All my wall clocks are battery.

The kitchen has digital in all the appliances.  After a power outage, they all blink at you.   crazy2

Why can't we just move it back 30 minutes and then just all get along?
