It's OK to cry or grieve the loss of someone close.  I was an Army Reserve 1SG and one of the people from an accompanying unit was killed in an ambush.  At her funeral, I stood at attention next to two Generals and a Colonel and all four of us were crying like babies.  Grieving like that allows us to be human and in that moment, we realize just how precious and short life is.

I've played taps as an active duty bugler for over 500 funerals and I still get choked up every once in a while. If you didn't, you wouldn't be normal.
