Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone here on site has had to deal with trigger finger during riding?    I am beginning to experience it sometimes even on short rides. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions to fix or improve my situation.

I was told I had to have surgery to fix mine. I refused and just kept working my hands a lot. It eventually went through all ten of my fingers. Each lasted a month or so. None of it has repeated since. Been about two years now.
I did paint my hands with DMSO regularly.

I spoke with a hand surgery specialist and am glad I did.

I had trigger finger.  It would not improve on its own.  No excercise or therapy program would fix it either.  Surgery that took less than 15 minutes fixed it.  There was a recovery period, but it was so easy I forget how long it was.  Golf, motorcycles, guitar, and tools are now back to their usual.

Strange topic for the Tech Board but yes .

I had a close call with trigger finger a few years ago. Although I didn’t associate my condition with riding, I suppose I could have and should have.

The ring finger on my left hand started to retract uncontrollably. As soon as it started I rubbed very vigorously with aspercream and worked that finger continuously for a couple weeks. Eventually it went flat and never again was an issue. However, I still have this hard nodule and depression where the tightness was. It doesn’t really bother me but it is noticeable

Thanks for the input guys, I guess I will try to work through it this summer and maybe see a hand doctor this winter. And yes I do suppose this is a strange subject for the tech post. I should have placed it in the general category.

It is a technical question.  You chose the right board.

Had this issue every once in a while especially with the VT1100 throttle needing more effort than the Valk. Started using magnesium supplement for night cramps and haven't had this issue since but staying hydrated while riding is must much more than normal everyday life. Hot summer breeze really dries one out but...

I have an orthopedic doctor that probably can do x-rays and give me an injection if need. It would probably be a good idea to find out the severity of my issue. I thought changing grips to a little larger diameter might help. The grips are the original ones that came on the bike when it was new. Thanks again for all the input.
