Michigan 6-Year-Old Suspended From School for Making Gun With Hand

Friday, March 05, 2010

A Michigan boy reportedly has been suspended from school for curling his hand into the shape of a gun and pointing it at another student.

Erin Jammer, said her son, Mason, was just playing around when he made the gesture Wednesday, the Grand Rapids Press reported.

But officials at Jefferson Elementary School said the behavior made other students uncomfortable, and they suspended Mason for the remainder of the week, the paper reported.

School officials also told the paper that Mason had been warned repeatedly against pretending to aim his hand at students but continued the behavior over several months.

Jammer told the paper her son isn't violent and doesn’t have toy guns at home. She suggested a less harsh punishment, like taking Mason’s recess away, might be more effective in teaching him not to make a gun with his hand.

"He's only six and he doesn't understand any of this," she said.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

seriously.  how stupid can some of these teachers get now adays?  my brother's an elementary school teacher, even my father said he's the dumbest person he's ever known.  when my father was on his death bed, he asked "how can someone so stupid be teaching kids?"

i know they're not all stupid, i've got a good friend that has a teaching degree, he rides a Valkyrie, so you know he's normal!!  cooldude

I took a friend of mine and his 6 year old daughter out to my land and taught her how to shoot with my daughter's little pink .22...

She had such a good time, her next day back at kindergarten she drew a picture of her shooting the gun...

Teacher saw the picture, they were trying to get her expelled...

Her parents finally talked them into letting her get off with only writing an apology letter instead of full blown expulsion for this most heinous crime...

It's a different world we're living in folks... The inmates are now running the asylum...

Here in Eau Claire there’s a middle school called DeLong.  I did some work in the building and was given a storage room to set up and store my equipment and tools for the job I was doing.  The storage room use to be the target shooting room!!  I kid you not!  Seems that the gym class use to have a riffle class were the kids use to shoot at targets with a 22 caliber rifle.  The kids were allowed to use their own rifles if they wanted, or the school would provide one.  I was told that they discontinued the class back in 1975.   Now, that’s sad, think of the lucky kids that were taught the true meaning of gun control!

Every fall when I was in HS, probably at least 1/2 of the pickups in the HS parking lot had either a shotgun or a rifle in the BACK WINDOW.  We all went hunting on the way home from school.  No one thought anything about it. Graduated 1972.

Don't worry Karen,  I'll meet you at the border and smuggle you in if needed.  It's good to have friends in low places.  Just don't go making a gun out of your hand with out a CHP (concealled hand permit).  If you want to get one better start now, what with the class and back ground check and all could take awhile.  Otherwise, if you want to carry, you have to put your hand in a locked box and secure the ammo in your trunk.  I suppose if your going "BANG,BANG" that means securing your head in the trunk.  I know it sounds stupid, but the laws were passed to protect the public.  BTW - stay away from Detroit, they carry illegally there.

Thanks, Skinhead, I'll be in Detroit only as long as it takes to get from the Ambassador Bridge out to the city limits. 50 years ago I went anywhere at all in Detroit & felt safe and was safe. On the other hand, when I was 5, my folks sent me to summer camp, & I took my favorite cap gun. They took it away from me & gave it back when I left. Guess it was going on then. See you in a few months!

If you don't think that the progressives are after the hearts and minds of our children, you should have been watching Glenn Beck last Friday night.  The left (which includes the major part of our educational system) has a whole agenda outlined to teach our children and grandchildren beginning in elementary school and continuing on through out college.  The "guns are bad" lesson is only the beginning...JTL

Pharmboy,

Going to a city counsel meeting on tuesday before work.  Our Chief of Police in Topeka,ks is wanting to ban the "open carry" and go "concealed".   Kansas has ALWAYS been an open carry state and now they want to change.  Personally I don't carry "yet" but am planning on doing so and personally I have my opinion on who conceals carry and most are criminals and those that open carry do it for protection and to let the criminal know they are not the only one to bring a gun to a fight!

Tuesday should be interesting, I think their will be 300 of us at the meeting...
