My  new ring & pinion gear set finally showed.  I all most have the eveything apart but the pinion gear is still in the housing.  Has anyone done this yet?  I will have to get a larger soccet to get the nut off but my question is,  how hard is it to get out.  Since you can not get to the other end of the shaft I'm guessing you would use a puller attached to nut to pull it out?  Does it come right out or is it a problem?

Had to ride my wifes VTX 1800 last Saturday so I could go for a ride, not bad but not the same!
Need to git'r done and back on the road....

If you're talking about this, it comes right off with an impact wrench...

Same for putting it back on...

Yip,  worked just like you said.  I'm getting ready to pull out the pinion shaft and start putting it back together. cooldude
