So I've seen a reference in the service manual to a filter sceen but don't see any details. Maybe this is the screen on the petcock?

What have you guys don't to prevev junk from your tanks from getting into the carbs - inline fuel filter?

The filter is on the petcock, inside the tank.

The screen is #4 in link to the Valkyrie Fuel Tank.  It is above the petcock in the tank.

Some here have installed inline fuel filters between the petcock and the tee in the fuel line.  Others are very comfortable with the screen.

They often don't come out with the petcock, especially if it's the first time the petcock's been pulled since the bike was new. You might have to remove it with some needle nose  pliers if it's stuck in the tank.

+1 on the screen remaining in the tank.  Remove carefully.

The petcock screen will collapse if it gets clogged, and should be replaced.
A good fuel filter will help prevent hydrolock. Some of us have had problems with fuel starvation with an extra filter. I have Golan filters on my bikes. They are a bit pricey but they filter to a claimed 10 microns, are cleanable and I've never had starvation problems.

thanks John.
I stopped by a local race shop tonight and picked up an in line filter. it's much bigger then i expected to put in but the other choice was just a stainless screen and this one gave me a better warm fuzzy
