draining the carb float bowls?

when draining the carbs will the fuel come out past the float bowl screws or through the drain tubes?

Through the drain tubes unless 1 or more are blocked (unlikely, but possible) and then only through the drain screw openings if you back the screw out too far or completely.
Normal carb drain procedure may produce a few drops of fuel at the screws - nothing significant -

Open 1.5 to 2 turns for draining thru the hose.
