Disc lock recommendations

Anybody have any recommendations for secure parking like a disc lock, brand, model etc?

My advice is to get one VERY visible or make a system that makes you remember that you locked your disc

I forgot mine was on...started the bike and broke the bracket for the brake calipter,,,TWICE !!??   ,,,,, and, yes, a long way from home

Ahh your a month late. I had one 4-sale cheap, think it went for $10. It was a Bullygaurd or something like that. I used it once and it sat in the garage for 8 yrs.   It was really heavy and built well. I dont see many people use one anymore, nor do I. I have parked in some seedy areas and bikes been fine. If they want your bike they'll get it either way. Put your front end up on a trailer/dolly and off they go. I just fork lock mine.

Yes, if they want it bad enough, they will get it.....

I saw 9 guys one time in Sturgis, grab a bagger Harley, pick it up and set it in a pickup bed......    Disc lock, steer head lock, and a cable run though the rear wheel and through the frame.   No way would it roll.

It was gone in less than 60 seconds.

In California, I investigated a theft where they had used a fork lift to load the bike up.   So, I just leave mine unlocked and hopefully if they steal it, they won't crash it, and it is recovered.

It has been parked in some shaddy areas of New Jersey at a couple of Motels.  The 1st stay it was parked right outside the door.    The 2nd time it was parked alongside the building.    A car was stolen from there that night.   It was a Street Rod.

I'm sure that pros or dedicated amatures will get your bike if they have time and opportunity. I also believe that you can make it more difficult and reduce the likelyhood of being on foot.

Just a friendly reminder.............You a riding a Honda (I assume) not a Harley. When asked by Harley riders why I don't lock my steering and disc I tell them Honda's are for riding not an investment so there resale value is not as high as a Harley, hence no one wants to steal them. I have left my keys in my bike and went to some stores and couldn't figure out where my keys were on returning to my bike, I then noticed them in the ignition, DOOOHA. Seen a guy leave one on and TRY to drive away, broke above mentioned parts on his bike too. Gave mine away that weekend, it had alarm on it and this was 10 years ago. I don't even lock the steering, but do try and remember to remove the keys  Just my .02

My feeling is a lot of motorcycle thefts are crimes of opportunity.

All a potential thief has to do is push a Valkyrie for a few hundred feet and he'll end up leaving it right there.

Hopefully put the side stand down. Is that too much to hope for?

I made a fob outta the grip cap. I rarely take the key now. I will if its parked over night somewhere but thats about it. Figured its insured.
