just double checking - thought maybe i could order a pinion gear cup, seal, and final drive shaft for less than $100.  turns out that i can't find anywhere that will send for less than $150.  guess that's what i will do unless anyone else knows of better prices than directline honda.  also, i'm about to grind off about 1/8th inch off the swing arm where it would rub against rear tire.  metal is a slight bit corroded and 'swelling' outward just enough to rub off lettering on outside of tire.  not seeing any reason why i shouldn't but wanted to double check about that too.  any feedback is appreciated.

I'm just guessing here however it sounds like you might have a alignment issue with the tire rubbing and needing final drive parts. I run a 205/55 on all my bikes and the tire rubbing the swing arm is not a problem.

that's certainly a reasonabl guess - your reply prompted me to go take a closer look.  it actually looks like a manufacturing flaw.  the other (left) side of the swingarm looks seamless with no corrosion, but the right side looks like an additional layer was added on and is bubbling out toward the tire below the horizontal groove that circles around the swingarm on the inside.  after cleaning out the area, i was able to rubber hammer the 'layer' to flatten it enough so that it will give me clearance - the tire is an atr sport achilles and i did notice that it was wider than the other 6 car tires i've tried over the years (145,000 miles worth minus the first 8,000 on the original tire).  anyway, thanks for the reply.  guess i'll have to wait for something else to use my new grinder on!  Sad

I just looked at HDL website shaft 46.34, seal 7.08 and cup 34.79  total 77.79 plus shipping. Are these the parts you asking about?

I've often beat HDL in price, and usually will beat them in time delivered. In the past when stuff was backordered, they have even sent it 2-day delivery on their dime when they didn't have to, only needed to send it normal UPS Ground. If I need to know availability right away, I ask and they will look while I'm on the phone. On backorders, they have called me to let me know the part is on the way...or advise me on the time involved. I have yet to have HDL do that for me, or the fast shipping of backorders.

Just my 2 cents.

maybe I'm missing something here but I show shaft as part # 4021-MZO-A00 at 46.34 dollars.  I replaced mine about a year ago after stripping cup and shaft out on the way to work one day.

I think your calculator is broken.
46.34 + 34.79 + 7.08 = 88.21

I get my parts from these guys

This is the final drive shaft coming out the back of the motor.

i can't figure where the shaft propeller is that you are referring to.  i'm referring to the final drive shaft that fits into the pinion cup on the one end and into the u joint on the other end according to the parts pictures.

ok, i see what you are seeing now - it is under the 'swingarm' picture - i was looking at the 'final drive' picture and thought that was the shaft.  now i see that i have ordered the wrong parts.  i will try to contact the place i ordered from and get that corrected.  thanks.

Hey check this out , one day my brother-in law and sister were riding his 94 wing when we stopped for gas I looked at his rear tire that he had just put on and noticed a line on the side wall. Well under closer inspection it turned out to be a 1/4" groove that got cut in. It was a slow ride home that day. Anyway turns out that the swing arm was rusted pretty good and on the rightside where Honda left the gap in material it flexed   enough to push an angular pertrusion out cutting into the wheel.  I don't know if the tire was low or the body mass  LOL had something to do with it but they were dam lucky to have stopped for gas when we did.  We replaced the swing arm and a New tire  and all is well.  Just thought you may not have heard of such a thing. PS the Valks swing arm seems to look identical to the wings. Cool

that appears to be what has happened to mine - fortunately, only the raised lettering on the tire was rubbed off, but i have pounded out the area and i think i'll grind it smooth before i put the tire back on.
