Ok, I installed I/S springs, re-jetted to 38 lows and 115 mains, new F/P pins 1&2 on slot 3 and 3-6 on slot 2, pilots set to 3.5, New K&N without prefilter and sync'ed the carbs.
as noted here: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/forum/tech_archive.cgi?read=969520
Why?
I felt she was running leaner than she should have been.
Checking out the plugs more or less supported that theory.

When I took her down, I found that an air box mod had been done, K&N air filter with pre filter installed, and the pilot jets settings were anywhere between 1 and almost three turns out. Plus she has a set of Cobra 6-6.

First impressions. (before the sleet hit)
Low end does not seem that great
Upper end: Oh yeah.  cooldude

When the weather breaks and my forehead thaws a bit, I will some miles on her and
 relate what the butt-dyno feels.

Did notice that she no longer pops on deceleration.

Did I read that right?
With your re-configuration your pilots are at 3.5 turns out?

My response is the same as Dennis....did you say 3.5 turns?  When I installed my 38's the advise I got from the forum was 1.75 turns of the pilots.  That seemed to work very well for me.

Yep, another simple case of RTFF.  Embarrassed
RTFF= Read The Friendly Forum.
Turned them back in last night.
Gotta to into town and get another battery today, I will check the sync this afternoon and put it on the butt-dyno. Might have a couple of days of riding weather before it turns again.

Thanks for y'all's feedback   Smiley

Lets see,
You've installed:
  • #38  slow jets
  • #115 main jets
  • raised the jet needles
  • installed I/S slide springs
  • set the pilots at 3-1/2 turns.

At 6,000 feet above sea level you were thinking the bike was running a bit lean so you made those changes.

That is incredible!

I'd be interested in what your gas mileage will turn out being.

What, me worry?   Smiley
I also put on an I/S fuel tank.
And turned the pilots back to 1.5 and will work my way from there.
At it's worst, the scooter will STILL get better mileage than my dodge truck.

Has anyone had their carbs cleaned and synched by a dealer? What is the approximate cost for this? Thanks

It will vary greatly.

Best bet is to call your local dealer and get an estimate.

Dealers have a few methods, so costs will vary in that fashion.

Method

Honda labor rate: Average $90.00/hr

1: Remove pilots, spray carb cleaner up in there & blow them out  + sync - About: 1.75 hrs.

2: Dump Techron in the fuel tank, sit at least overnight + sync - About 1.25 hrs.

3: Remove bank, break down carbs, reassemble/install + sync - About 4-5 hrs.
