I have 1 1/2 hitches....believe it's the Hitchdoc version, a reciever type with the removable center piece. Anyway, does anyone have one of those type that isn't a receiver, has a platform with the ball mounted on that, and that section is permanent...doesn't come off like the other one. I'd like to build one similar and need to know just how the support arms are designed. I've worked with some soft copper tubing so I can bend it as needed, just trying to get an idea as to how to shape the horizontal arms but I'm getting a bit (a bunch) frustrated. Of course, if someone has one to sell....let me know.
The reason I say I have 1 1/2 hitches....I have one complete one, the second one is missing the center piece that has the reciever on it. I have the two boomerang shaped arms, some of the spacers, that's all. Had intended to make the center part but found a complete one before I got that far.

Now mind you I do not have a hitch but I did stay at a holiday Inn I think the side pieces are the same my friend has the the type with the ball on the plate can get some pics if you like !!!

Roboto, watch here to see if someone comes up with something. If not, then I would like to see what the arms on those look like(shape). Seems like they had one set of arms horizontal and one set vertical that bolted to the fender rail area.

I have never seen one of those John they must tie into the saddlebag supports as those are the bars coming down fron the side rails Hmmmm interesting!!!

Hi John I have these hitches made by Denray from Quebec. I had one powder coated black but they are both the same. My third hitch is a homemade design,much different than these. If these are what you are looking at,I will get measurements. Happy Trails Adrian(Chrome)V

Disregarding the wiring...how quick can it be removed. I'm trying to come up with something that's quick on/off for when I'm not traveling. The vertical arms could be sectioned with an attaching plate that bolts two halves together. That way I wouldn't have to remove the saddlebag hangers to remove the hitch. Are they stable? And can you believe about a year ago I had a chance to buy one of those used from one of your countrymen down here to Florida for a winter break....$50 is all he wanted. Oh well.....
I might just contact Denray to see if they still make them for a Valk. I'll let you know if I need some measurements. Thanks.

Why do you want to screw around taking the hitch off and on? Mine has been on since 97 and I have never banged my leg on it or had it get in my way.....  If you look beside the Iowa & Riders on the plate frame, you will see about a 4 " plate the the 2 sides rails are welded to, the flat receiver is a part of the plate. VERY VERY Strong........... I've probably got close to 150,000 miles pulling various trailers around the US since 97. Only had 1 trailer give me fits pulling it. Could not get the weight evened out and the tire & air shock pressure adjusted right..

If I was to make a hitch, I would copy the hitch doc....tough to beat it for looks, strength.....its not a quick release, but I have never needed to remove it in the 4-5 years Ive had it on the bike......it doesnt interfere with anything and I can use it to hold my Patriot Guard LARGE flag pole.  PS. The one change I would make is that I would cut out the bottom plate with the corners of the tab for the ball "filled in" and cut outs to attach the chains....as you can see I added a plate for that, I hate eye bolts and that is the manufacturers plan to attach eyebolts underneath
