Finally got my hitchdoc and Tsukayu bags mounted.  Whenever I do some work on the bike I like to take a few pics.

Receiver type hitch doc

Trying to come up with some dimensions as they do NOT come predrilled

I went with the brackets mounted at 45 degrees .... PLENTY of clearance for brake caliper, drive unit, etc.

and had a 1/4" aluminum plate machined up for added support and to use as a drill guide.

made up this wood fixture to help transfer my dimensions to the bags. Prolly overkill but damn accurate.

The finished product ....

Nice looking setup, I want to change to hard bags also, but spent my extra money on a trailer last Nov. Yours looks a  lot like the cycle mate I got, haven't pulled it yet. How does the 8" tires hold up?

My old trailer w/8" tires would make 2 trips across the US between the ponds.

That would be defined as leave Iowa, head to California, to Georgia, back to Iowa.  If 1 does happen to go flat on ya, they will still come into the upright position at speed, then drop down when you slowed down for stop lights and etc.       I was on Hwy 50 about the middle of Nevada, (Austin & Eureka, NV,) when one went flat on me.    I should say that is when I noticed it was flat, but, it was still in the upright position.    I stopped, it plopped down on the flat tire.   I thought I was screwed, no spare, was not going to leave the trailer in the boonies and I was like 50 miles from a town.  I decided to take a chance and see if I could get into town.    It made it in no problem.  One of the beads never came loose, I think it was on the inside. so the tire staid true to the wheel at slow speed and didn't do any flopping around.

They would be almost to cords when I got home....

The trailer came with the tires you see and did make a trip out to Colorado with it a couple years ago. Never got hot or even warm.  Tread is still good but am thinking of upgrading to the wider (5.30 ??) tread.  Did trailer nice thou.

Thanks for the compliments.  Just to clarify  -  that 1/4" aluminum plate (qty 2) is mounted between the saddlebag and the Tsukayu mounting brackets. I also inserted a 1/16" piece of neoprene (same shape as the aluminum plate) between the saddlebag and the aluminum plate.  The aluminum plate also acted as a drill guide to drill the holes into the saddlebags.

I upgraded the 8" tires on my trailer to the wider 5.60 wide tires and the height is almost that of the 4.8in 12 trailer tires. I only run about 20psi and the trailer pulls great.

For the money I was very happy with my Tsukayu bags. Had them on my old standard for several years before the accident.

Owing to the fact that they were trashed in the accident, and her insurance company paid dearly I like the factory bags on my I/S much better, and bought a set off of evil bay for the Standard.

Thank you sir .... working as a Tool Designer and having access to a class 1A Toolroom does come as an advantage to these projects. I'd be willing to bet that the dimensions between the two saddlebags are within .06" from each other.  Makes me sleep better at nite  Wink

Also, if anyone is interested in what I came up with for dimensions to drill the holes in the bags just give a holler ....

Something I forgot to mention (not that anyone would care) is that the silver and maroon on the bags are actually vinyl stripes and not paint .... 4" and 3/16" stripes cut to the shape you see.  They matched up perfect.  Prolly not as nice as paint but was WAY cheaper and if they get buggered up I have enough for a repeat. Cost was less than $30
