My employer has been trying to put me in an early grave, for the past week...  Too much time in the office, and no time to enjoy life.   Angry

I decided I needed some more time with my lady, in Jim's 'Man Cave' of a shop.  Gave Daryl a call, and pulled him away from his Bridgeport, long enough to come out and help Jim and I start putting my bike back together.

As you may remember...  This is where we started last night.

The man, the myth, the legend...  Daryl (of XF6 Customs) driving home the new upper 'race' for the triple tree, with me playing 'helper', on the right...

A short time later, the newly painted forks, installed in the new 'offset' triple tree, made by Daryl...  cooldude

One more step, a new E3, on a nice clean rim...  Wink

Few more bits and pieces back where they belong, and it's starting to look like a Valk again  Grin

Excuse the finger prints, but a good look at the new triple tree...

If you look close, you can see daylight between the steering stem and the forks...  Thus the 'offset'...

Daryl, making 'vroom, vroom' sounds...  He was like a proud papa, seeing his creation on my bike.  Grin

As you can see, I've got a bit more work to do before the 'road test'...  Got a busy next few days in my 'real' job, but I hope to have everything back together some time next week.  I'll post more pics, and weather permitting, a ride report as soon as I can.

Thanks for looking  Smiley

Robot,

This is the 'prototype' of his 'new' Off-Set Triple Tree.  Keeps stock rake, and mounting locations for handle bars, head light, windshield/fairing...  The forks are bumped forward about an inch, and from what we've heard, they are very similar to the long since discontinued Two Brothers 'Racing' Triple Tree.

What is the intended purpose of the offset trees?  Just a stretched look?  Just unique/custom triple trees?  Or are you trying to change the handling?  Even though the rake is the same, it seems offsetting the trees would decrease (or is that increase??) trail, which would affect handling.

Bob E.

To answer your question, it decreases the trail (according to Daryl, and his geometry class type drawing/tutorial), and should improve low speed manuvers.  It may sound strange, but it feels lighter bringing her up off the side stand.

I'll have a full ride report, just as soon as I can find the time to finish puttin' her back together.  cooldude

Momz...  Yer right about the look, but then, you already know Daryl makes works of art  Wink
