I've gone for several rides over the winter and kept a battery tender on it.

So, this morn I decide to ride to work - 35 miles one way.  The lady fires up instantly and as I'm getting gloves and helmet on she dies. Duh...forgot to turn the gas on.

So I go to start it and the headlights are on but as soon as I hit the starter it goes dark on me  - no headlights, gauge lights, phhhhtttt.   My light bar is still working so I hit the starter again and poof...light bar goes out and the bike is completely dark.  No clicks or anything except one small gauge light blinks once in a while.

Checked battery and it shows 24 volts (?).  Fuses are all good.......Ideas???

I would say your battery died.  Sounds just like mine did last year when it died.

I had exactly the same experience except I spent two hours in a parking lot dismantling things like the starter switch and futzing with the starter relay.

It was the battery.  A jump start got me going.

Dollars to donuts, your problem is the battery too.

Check to see if your cables are tight, and that ground that goes to your engine at the bottom, from your battery.

Thanks all.  Stuck a charger on it and all's well - just not enuff oomph to turn it over, only clicks.

I'll put it on a tender a couple of days while it rains here and try it again. If not, new battery.

Thanks again

My advise, get rid of the tender, and get a battery charger. jmho.  hoser
