2014 Valkyrie 1800

Seminole, Florida

« on: March 20, 2010, 04:55:22 PM »

Took the wife on a nice ride today, never left my County, which is extremely rare for me. We did have a great time. I saw a red & black Interstate @1:30pm on Seminole Blvd. in Seminole. Saw a black & gold Interstate @ 3:15 pm on Ulmerton Road in Largo. Saw a purple & white Standard on 34th Street South in St. Petersburg.
Then off for biker appreciation (free dinner) @ Biff Burger in St. Pete and saw a real clean looking cinnamin & cream Tourer. Then just up the road to Quaker Steak & Lube and saw a real nice, highly accessorized black Standard nicely converted to a Tourer, with National bags. Never ceases to amaze me how many Valks I find when out riding. Unfortunately, I was not able to meet and greet any of the owners, maybe lurkers here? We wore our helmets and it felt good, (I can count on two fingers how many times I wore my helmet last year) Two of my Valk riding friends have been in recent accidents, several on the main board and Grumpy too. I'm just so much more cautious now. I hope I can continue wearing my helmet when the heat gets here. I tried out my new prescription sunglasses too, wow, nice to see again! I can't wear the contacts with sunglasses anylonger due to the poor condition of my eyes. I had to use my airhorns three times, swerved twice to avoid close calls and pulled off the road to let a tailgator go by who was to close for comfort with the wife in the saddle, If I were alone I would have had a slightly differant approach. She said, "this is like a video game" Let's see if we can make it home alive. They were out today!
All in all, Great day of local riding   cooldude

'Tis snowbird season Doug. Roll Eyes
But take heart, after Easter the vast majority of these foreigners will be gone. The rest will leave after the first day of 90/90. You know, 90 degrees + 90 % humidity that hits in May sometime!  Evil
Then we will have more breathing room, only having to dodge the resident blue-hairs that barely poke up over the steering & the self-absorbed soccer Moms blasting down the hiway in their SUVs while yakking on their cell phones to other soccer moms.  tickedoff

Glad you had a good day!
Today sucks for riding... raining cats 'n dogs here.
