I put one on as well, yes folds forward when you are mounting the bike, flips up and is adjustable for angle that back rest sits, it has good width and is well made. Easy to mount and solid.

Utopia for me too. I had one on my GL-1800 and on my I/S. Very happy with them. The Valkyrie backrest matches so well it looks like Honda made it. I combined it with an Airhawk and Kury pegs and I am good for 800 miles a day. In my opinion my Valk is more comfortable than my Wing was on long runs.

I've had a Utopia for about 4 years now and I love it. Great company to deal with as well.

I have not tried the Utopia, so I cannot say much about it.
Personally, I have not been very happy with the stock seat on the IS or the standard/tourer. We are currently running Mustang seats on my IS and the wifes Tourer and love every mile of it. I have had a chance to sit on a couple of Ultimate seats and they seem like a better feel for me at least (Have not had a chance to put any real miles on one though so I'm not ready to pull the trigger and replace my mustang)
Both the Ultimate and the Mustang come with backrests, and the mustang at least is removeable as well for short hops.
If it were me I would pop for replacing the stock seat completely, I would imagine your backside will thank you in the long run.

Is the factory IS seat different from the seat on the STD ?? Yes. The stock Interstate seat is a single piece for the rider and passenger as opposed to the two pieces on the Standard/Tourer.

Willow or anyone in the know, are the '99 and '00 Interstate seats and the '01 the same? I think I remember reading a couple years ago the seat on the 01 was improved over the other two. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks,
Steve
