My daughter and son-in-law are stationed out there. He's Air Force and is deploying (again) for Afghan Wednesday. She's a little nervous since this is the first time he's been deployed since they've been married and she's so far from home.

I'd just like to be able to tell her there's "family" near and will be praying for them.

Bandit is just a stones throw from Clovis.

Thanks!
Bandit, I'll try to give you a call tonight or tomorrow night if that's o.k. It makes an overprotective mom feel lots better to know there are good people close to them!

Not anymore, thankfully.

If she is new in town, tell her to try Ben's BBQ on Prince St.
Uncle opened it a few years back.
Hopefully it is still open.
He makes really good BBQ.
Just do not tell him I recommended the place,
Ben or Vicky might drop of a heart attack if they knew I remembered where Clovis was.

Bandit,
Sorry I didn't call last night. (I'm fighting the crud and my voice was almost gone when I got home from work) I'll try to give you a call this evening if the voice holds out! Thanks again!

Oops, see what happens when you do not keep in touch with family?

Did not really have anything against Clovis as Clovis was "town" as in to get cleaned up for: Copper Penny still there? I lived a few miles north of Cannon on 331: Ranchvale. Actually about seven miles north-west of Ranchvale. Look that up on your favourite internet  map program. Not much there even back in the day. Most of the family grew up out there.
Last time I was in Clovis for any length of time was to pipe (yet more) family home (funeral), and that must have been mid 90's or so.

Might swing back through there early summer, should have the scooter in tow (hey you can not haul a couple of hundred pounds of boxes in the saddlebags) maybe I will give the VRCC a shout then to see who is about. I would like to visit Roswell just for the hey of it.

No, the Copper Penny is also out of business.  Speaking of Ranchvale, go to your map and look up Fields which is basically the end of the Ranchvale hiway.  So we do know where the boonies are at.

Yep, Field is out there.
about like where I am now (SW of Ramah, CO)
ain't much between you and the wind....

Yesterday I was catching some rays on the scooter.
tonight I am trapped at work by a mini blizzard.

If you have lived out there for the past 40 years we might have bumped elbows at one time or another. 'Course I was a tad bit younger back then.

Clovis was not a bad place back then.
Guess most of the places and people I knew back then are gone.  Sad
That is why it is fun crusing and seeing new places and meeting new people.  cooldude

I believe if you bumped into bandit you'd remember it.  He tends to make an impression.

He bumped into me in Tucumcari.
