Livin' the Valk, er, F6B life in Central Florida.

Silver Springs, Florida

« on: March 23, 2010, 06:11:26 PM »

Posting this here instead of the Florida board just for the ease of pic here.
Cleaned up the garage last night to make room for the teardown of Mark's Valk.
Here's what I've found.
Carbs totally gunked up. I have no idea how this thing ran at all!

I'm sure mainly due to rust in the tank & not much use in the last couple of years. The petcock screen was trashed. Major clean up job ahead! Must say this is a 2000 Valk with 89K miles.

Gas looked like dirty mud water with rust flakes!

Top view.

Bottom view of old gas.

Air filter is a bit dirty but I've seen worse!

Anyhow, I called Mark & he says go ahead get the tank cleaned & coated. He also wants me to go ahead with a de-smog while I'm there.
Pic of torn down Valk!

Here ya go TJ, the "Little Red Box" full of Valk parts! Grin

At least it has some company while it gets fixed up. Cool

See the Florida board for a list of needed parts.

I hope the screen kept most of it in the tank.

Eddie, Mine looked close to that. I don't understand?  my screen looked identical to the poor condition of Mark's. I had the rust too, which I am guessing comes from gas stations? My tank is in good shape, so how else could I get that much rust in my tank? Carbs looked about that bad too.
I'm guessing most would look pretty bad, we just don't know until we get into it. I found all the rust in the fuel after I had removed and drained the tank for the third time last year?
Nice of you to help cooldude
